This shall be the final episode of Season 1 of Casual Film Fan, and I hope to bring to you a more diverse range of content in the next season. Anyway, peace ✌️
Welcome to the Casual Film Fan podcast, the show of your favourite movies and fandoms. Not too long ago, Avengers: Endgame (2019) released in theatres, and showcased how large the roster of heroes has grown to become. But who was the one who ACTUALLY started it all? Who was the First Avenger? There are many ways to look at it - and this episode will address precisely that. Hint: it may not be Captain America...
Avengers... assemble. That applause-attracting line was only one of the aspects that made the final battle of Avengers: Endgame one of the most iconic and epic battle scenes in film history. For one, it was amazing how EVERYONE joined in to fight the forces of Thanos alongside the Avengers and Guardians... or so we thought. Could there be some others who could have came through those portals and fought in the battle for the entire universe? There may be more than you might expect, as we look through everyone throughout the entire course of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Cheers!
Quentin Beck aka Mysterio's debut in Spider-Man: Far From Home stole the show and Jake Gyllenhaal's performance as the master of trickery and illusions was praised by fans and critics alike. There is no doubt the MCU already has a slate of awesome villains such as Thanos, Loki and the Vulture (and also a lot of bad ones such as Kaecilius and Malekith), but how well does Mysterio contend against them for the spot of best villain of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (oh while ignoring the recent news)?
Nearly chopping Thor in half, breaking Cap's vibranium shield and raining fire on his own troops are only some of the vicious acts by 2014 Thanos when he travels to 2023 New York to wreak havoc on the Avengers. In stark contrast, the version of Thanos from Infinity War in the main timeline was less harsh and instead more calm and collected. But what exactly caused this difference in character in one of the most iconic onscreen villains of all time?
We've all heard the recent hot news - Tom Holland's Spider-Man is no longer part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe - the universe with the world's biggest movie of all time. Looks like that little prank from years ago became reality. Whether we liked the news or disliked it (most of us disliked it), there is one thing all of us can agree on - this new deal between Sony and Disney will result in drastic changes to Peter Parker's storyline and character arc in future appearances. Who exactly is at fault here? And what will be Spidey's future, in whatever universe? Tune in to this episode for the latest grasp on potentially the worst thing to happen to MCU fans thus far (taste of how DCEU fans haven't got that Snyder Cut). Just be warned, Miles Morales in the MCU may not happen as soon as you wish anymore.
Welcome back to the Casual Film Fan podcast. In this episode, we step away from the booming world of the MCU and go back to one of our all-time childhood favourites - The Lion King!
The 2019 version was released last week and is already shattering box office records worldwide. But even with its impressive monetary statistics, will it still match up against the grandeur of the original in terms of its cultural impact?
We all knew it was coming, and we were all right.
