"The Soul Shack" w/ DJ-J-ME

The final instalment of the 2025 Cottage Mix Series! This is a very special one (and not just because it's the last mix before The Soul Shack turns 20!) - earlier in the year I was at my STK residency and thought it would be cool to use part of the night to make a short recording of all 80's retro remixes. I thought at best, I could maybe make an hour long mix before having to change it up out of 80's remixes...but that didn't happen. Instead, the people there that night were appreciating it, and coming up to me and asking for other 80's artists so I just kept going...and just like that, we got this timeless 3hr mix of remixed 80's classics! Hope you enjoy, and if you do, please share and repost for others to enjoy too!

The Cottage Mix Series continues! Moving along the flow of a cottage weekend, we're now at the Sunday Morning edition! This was actually recorded during cocktails/dinner at a wedding earlier this summer, where the couple's musical tastes made it the perfect opportunity to record this mix! Sad that summer is over, but hopefully the summer weather continues a little longer, and hopefully you'll enjoy this laidback mix. (and if you do, please share and repost for others to enjoy too!)

***This is 2025, you can check out the 2026 Cottage Mix Series over on Mixcloud***

Another summer long weekend, another edition of The Cottage Mix Series! Moving along the flow of a cottage weekend, we're going from the Saturday Afternoon Edition last month to the Saturday Night Edition this month! This was recorded at a yacht club season opening party, so it's probably the most mainstream / mobile dj mix you're gonna hear from me here on the Soul Shack page, very similar to what you'd hear if I was djing a wedding (which I have 5 this upcoming month!).

Hope you had a great summer and hope you enjoy the continuation of the Cottage Mix series (and if you do, please share and repost for others to enjoy too!)

The Cottage Mix Series continues! Moving along the flow of a cottage weekend, we're going from the Friday Night Edition last month to the Saturday Afternoon Edition this month! This was recorded at a Corporate Cocktail event back at the beginning of June, and the fresh arrival of summer weather definitely influenced the musical selections, making the recording perfect for the "fun in the sun" vibe of the Saturday Afternoon Edition!

Hope your summer is going great and hope you enjoy the continuation of the Cottage Mix series (and if you do, please share and repost for others to enjoy too!)

The Cottage Mix Series was back in full swing for 2025! For the Canada Day long weekend we're starting with the Friday Night Edition (same as in 2023, it's a live recording from a "Retro Attic" weekly event I filled in for, so nothing newer than 10yrs old). I've got a Saturday Afternoon edition recorded at a corporate and a Saturday night edition recorded at the RCYC season launch and just last night I recorded a "Retro 80's edition" of a Summer Home In Mykonos, so I just need to decide what mix to use for a Sunday Morning edition!

Hope you enjoy the return of the Cottage Mix series (and if you do, please share and repost for others to enjoy too!)

As much as I'm sitting on a pile of recordings to use for Soul Shack episodes, after I finished my set Friday night at Mansion, I was like "I should use this as a Soul Shack Mix". It's quite the musical journey - Beginning of the night is always just for me, and this time it involved the new Little Simz track Free, a small set of jungle remixes and of course at least one Sade track for the head bouncer, but then I went into (my version of) party mode, doing my best to rock the party, but with a mature Soul Shack influence, and trying to avoid most of the super cheesy and cliche sing along stuff (there's still a little bit though) and then finished off with a few classic house tracks. So check it out and hope you enjoy! (and if you know anyone that needs a dj for an event, give me a call!)

I felt like with me posting this mix the day after my birthday (on Mixcloud), it only made sense to use a recording that I named "Jamie's gift to himself". It's a live recording from my monthly at Clockwork, but this was the day after djing a set at Alvaro G's "Forty Nine" party, where I wanted to keep playing proper house music... so that's exactly what I did the next day at Clockwork! While recording, I had 2 people come up to compliment the music. When I asked if they were visiting or local, they were both locals, and when I asked a follow up, I already knew the answer - "did you used to go to Roxy Blu?", and of course they both said yes. So if you want to hear my personal taste in house music (heavily weighted with classics from the late 90's/early 00's), hit play now!

The Soul Shack turned 19 back in November (2024, sorry this is so late here, go to Mixcloud for current mixes) and we celebrated at Better Days in Miami the best way possible...with absolute freedom musically! (But warning, I used that freedom to include some Taylor Swift mashups and live blends for one of the staff at Better Days) If you want to hear what that sounds like click play to hear a crazy eclectic mix (I was just there again last weekend, but this recording is from November 8th, you gotta wait for the new recordings! Hell, I still haven't posted my mix from The Broken Shaker LA last July, but it has summer vibes all over it, being recorded at a rooftop pool, so that one will wait for the summer)

For now enjoy the 19yr anniversary mix including a very special Creed mashup/blend for Immer! #dontbebetterbeimmer

**Please share and spread this mix link over the holidays, my tiny ask from you**

It's back! When I got booked to do a cool holiday party in Toronto (where we'd previously talked musically about bands like LCD Soundsystem and The Smashing Pumpkins) I knew it was going to be the perfect opportunity to record this year's Christmas mix. The tradition is "Christmas Cocktails", but with the vibe of music I got to play in this mix, I think "A Soul Shack Christmas" is more appropriate, but give it a listen and you be the judge.

I'm so behind on posting the mixes here on podomatic (they're up to date over on Mixcloud) but similar to last year, I had to jump ahead and post the Christmas mix while it's relevant.

I truly hope this mix bring a little extra joy to your holidays, soundtracks special moments with friends & family and I hope you all stay healthy & safe this holiday season.

Here is my annual lounge music recap from last year. This is all the non-house stuff, filled with soul, rn'b, hip hop, a ton of edits (including a handful of my own), nudisco, daytime disco, amapiano, kaytranada type beats, retro remixes, boogie edits, even some drum & bass...all the good stuff! Not all necessarily released in 2024, but I discovered the songs last year.

So fix yourself a drink, sit back and enjoy the vibes (or lets be real, throw it on in the background while working or doing your household chores lol!)

And if you hate how late these mixes are getting posted here on Podomatic, head over to Mixcloud where they're all posted on time!
