✨  In this episode, Claire and Nic interview Amy Burke, a beauty-industry educator and breast cancer survivor diagnosed in May 2023 at age 33. Amy shares how she discovered a hard lump while working in her salon, was urged by a nurse client to call the GP, and was quickly referred through the NHS to the breast clinic for scans and biopsies. 

🌙 Amy outlines her treatment path: five months of initial chemotherapy (including an allergic reaction and use of a minus-30°C cold cap that helped her keep most of her hair), a left mastectomy with an expander, 15 rounds of radiotherapy, and then additional longer-term treatments including further chemo rounds and monthly injections, along with being medically put into menopause. She explains practical steps she took to reduce hair loss (not washing hair for months, limited brushing, silk pillowcase, avoiding heat, using wigs, and natural hair dye), and how exercise and maintaining normal routines supported her mindset.
