Sound of the Altar
Episode 3: Preparing the Vessel
Before the Pouring, There Is a Preparing
In this episode of Sound of the Altar, Vania Costner continues the journey of the Kingdom artisan by moving from the altar of priesthood into the preparation of the vessel.
Episode 2 established that the Kingdom artisan is priest before gift. Before the writing, the sound, the movement, the building, or the release, there is first ministry unto the Lord. In Episode 3, we go deeper into what happens after Yahweh begins to mark a vessel for sacred use.
Before the pouring, there is a preparing.
This episode explores the refining process of becoming a vessel for honor — set apart, useful to the Master, and prepared for every good work. Through Scripture, prophetic teaching, and personal reflection, Vania unpacks why preparation is not punishment, hiddenness is not rejection, and fire is not always destruction. Sometimes the fire is what makes us ready.
In This Episode
Vania teaches on:
Key Scriptures
2 Timothy 2:20–21 AMP
A vessel for honor, sanctified, set apart for a special purpose, useful to the Master, and prepared for every good work.
2 Corinthians 4:7
We carry treasure in earthen vessels so that the excellence of the power may be recognized as belonging to God and not to us.
Luke 6:45
Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.
Psalm 51:10
“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”
Judges 6:25–26
Gideon is instructed to tear down the altar of Baal and build an altar to the Lord before confronting Midian publicly.
1 Samuel 16:13
Samuel anoints David with oil, but the oil comes before the throne.
1 Corinthians 2:10

Hebrews 5:14
Solid food belongs to the mature, whose senses have been trained through practice to discern.
Matthew 9:17
New wine requires a wineskin capable of sustaining what is being poured.
Key Themes
The Vessel Is Not the Source
One of the first truths every Kingdom artisan must settle is this: we are not the source of what we carry. The revelation, wisdom, sound, blueprint, oil, wine, and fire all belong to Yahweh. We have been invited into stewardship.
Set Apart for a Special Purpose
Consecration is not only about removal. It is about being reserved for sacred purpose. When Yahweh begins preparing a vessel, He may address motives, wounds, old patterns, reactions, ambition, and identities formed through survival rather than truth.
Useful to the Master
The deeper question is not only, “Am I gifted?” The deeper question is, “Can Yahweh use me the way He desires?” Usefulness requires surrender, correction, patience, restraint, and obedience even when no one sees what is being carried.
The Wound Cannot Become the Filter
Healing is part of stewardship. A wounded scribe can mistake pain for revelation, and a wounded intercessor can mistake anxiety for discernment. Maturity requires the humility to recognize what is God, what is self, and what is still being healed.
The Fire Is Part of the Formation
The fire does not always come to destroy. Sometimes the fire removes noise, purifies motives, develops weight, and prepares the vessel to carry greater responsibility.
The Higher You Go, the Lighter You Must Become
Recorded during the month of Elul, this episode includes a personal confession from Vania about being in the process herself. One of the central revelations is this:
The higher you go in Yahweh, the lighter you must become.
Offense becomes too heavy. Pride becomes too heavy. The need to prove yourself becomes too heavy. Old identities become too heavy. Sometimes the fire is not only burning away what is sinful; it is removing what is too heavy for where Yahweh is taking you.
Oil, Wine, and Capacity
The oil speaks to consecration and appointment. The wine speaks to capacity and transformation. The fire purifies. Each one requires stewardship.
Sometimes we are asking for fresh oil while Yahweh is working on the wineskin. Sometimes we are asking for new wine while resisting the stretching. Sometimes we are asking for deeper revelation while refusing the foundation that would allow us to steward it correctly.
Closing Thought
Preparation is not wasted time. It is part of the assignment.
The fire is not consuming your purpose. It may be preparing you to carry it.
The oil is not the finish line.
The wine requires maturity.
And the deeper things of Heaven require a people who are willing to be formed before they are released.

The Kingdom Artisan: The Priest Before the Gift
In this episode of The Sound of the Altar, Vania Costner explores the altar as the place where the Kingdom Artisan is formed before the gift is ever released.
Beginning in Exodus 25, we look at Moses receiving the pattern for the tabernacle in the presence of Father and how encounter came before construction. Before there was a physical altar, there was already an altar being formed within Moses through surrender, separation, listening, and obedience.
From there, this episode moves into the Levitical order and the distinction between the priests and the Levites. The Levitical system gave Israel revelation concerning holiness, access, sacrifice, consecration, stewardship, and the weight of carrying what belonged to God. But Scripture does not leave us there.
Hebrews reveals the necessity of another priesthood.
If perfection could have come through the Levitical priesthood, why was there a need for another Priest to arise according to the order of Melchizedek?
This episode opens the door to understanding Yeshua as our eternal High Priest, whose priesthood is unchangeable. Through His blood, a new and living way has been opened, restoring access to Father and bringing us into a Kingdom reality that goes beyond an old religious structure.
We also explore why Kingdom artistry is about much more than creativity within the four walls of the church. Whether expressed through writing, movement, design, sound, painting, craftsmanship, building, or another creative assignment, the Kingdom Artisan is first formed at the altar.
Before the gift, there is surrender.
Before the blueprint is released, there is encounter.
Before the creation becomes an offering, the creator must first become the offering.
Romans 12 brings the revelation home as we are called to present ourselves as living sacrifices and allow Father to transform us through the renewing of our minds. The altar becomes the place where false identities, ambition, performance, comparison, and every competing altar within us can be confronted.
The Kingdom Artisan does not create for access to Father. We create from relationship with Father.
We surrender.
We receive.
We are transformed.
And then we build what Father has entrusted to us in the earth.

Welcome to Sound of the Altar, a prophetic teaching podcast presented by Glory Fire Studios and hosted by Vania Costner, prophetic worshiper, scribe, teacher, and founder of Glory Fire International Worship Ministries.
Sound of the Altar was created for those who sense that the Father is awakening, forming, healing, or calling something forth within them. Whether you are an intercessor, worshiper, prophet, scribe, dancer, standard-bearer, Kingdom artisan, creative, builder, pastor, or apostolic voice—or you simply know there is a deeper place in God you are being invited into—there is a place for you here.
This podcast is about the place before the expression.
Before there is a public expression, there is an altar. Before we carry an assignment for the Kingdom, there is formation. And before Father releases something through the vessel, He is also concerned with the vessel that will carry it.
Throughout Sound of the Altar, we will explore identity, consecration, prophetic worship, intercession, creativity, the priesthood of the believer, healing and deliverance, the written word, and the many ways the Spirit of God forms His sound within His people.
Healing and deliverance are not presented here through condemnation, but as invitations into freedom, restoration, wholeness, and deeper intimacy with the Father.
There will be times when we journey deeply through Scripture, times when Vania shares from her own process and experiences, and seasons devoted to particular expressions of the Kingdom artisan—from the altar, to the scroll, to the sound, and ultimately to the assignment.
The desire of this podcast is not simply that you gather information, but that these episodes become places of encounter—places where Holy Spirit awakens something within you, brings alignment, and reminds you of what Heaven has already spoken.
Sometimes what Father is forming begins as a whisper: a prayer, a dream, a burden, an image, a sound, a movement, a word, or something you cannot yet fully explain.
When it comes from Him, it deserves to be stewarded at the altar.
Welcome to Sound of the Altar—a place of formation and awakening, where we learn to recognize, steward, and release what Heaven is sounding within us.
Let’s begin.
Episode 1 — In the Beginning: Ruach Elohim & the Sound Before Creation
What if the beginning of creation reveals a pattern for how God forms what He desires to release through us?
In this opening episode of The Sound of the Altar, Vania Costner returns to Bereshit—the beginning—to explore the pattern revealed in Genesis 1. Before anything visible took form, Ruach Elohim was hovering over the waters. There was movement in the unseen before there was visible manifestation.
For the Kingdom artisan, this reveals something important: everything Father gives us does not arrive fully developed. Sometimes what begins as a word, dream, Scripture, sound, burden, movement, color, or seemingly small seed carries the architecture of something much greater. The invitation is not to rush it into form, but to allow Ruach to move over it and Wisdom to teach us how to build.
In this episode, you'll hear about the creative pattern of seed, hovering, wisdom, utterance, form, and expression, and why Kingdom artistry begins not with performance or visibility, but in communion with the Creator.
We also explore what it means to be created in the image and likeness of God, why the posture of the intercessor is foundational to the Kingdom artisan, and why Father is concerned not only with what flows through the vessel—but with the vessel itself.
In this episode:
Key Scriptures: Genesis 1:1–3; Genesis 1:26; Proverbs 8; Romans 12:1.
Key thought:
“The first offering is not the work produced through your hands. The first offering is you.”
