Charlie Lobner and Travis Vickery dive into the data behind the tournament and the number of hogs that have been submitted so far per county. With their home county being ground zero for the start of the tournament, Charlie focuses on it and translates hog numbers into what they may represent for the future of native wild life and agriculture, as well as possible solutions to help fight hunger using hog meat as a source. As the month nears to an end the guys announce leaderboards and give their predictions on what they expect to unfold and who will be the winner for most hogs killed. With 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place within single digits of one another, the final days of hunting will be crucial in the fight for 1st prize of the new 9mm pistol.
Owner and President of True Ballistics, Dell Hallmark joins Charlie Lobner on the podcast to announce winners for March's tournament, as well as talk some statistics on wild hogs and expected population growth in the future. March blew previous tournament numbers out of the water and set a new personnel best for the tournament. Charlie announces new prizes for April's tournaments and Dell gives away a few surprise sweepstakes prizes to a handful of lucky winners entered in the Army Hog Hunters and True Hog Hunters tournaments. The April tournament is already looking to be a close one and the year to date (YTD) competition got a whole lot closer as well. Charlie expects to see some competitors slow down on hog kills with farm fields being planted, and for others who have fallen behind in recent months, to start playing catch up due to specific hunting methods and land accessibility.
Charlie takes a break with the Robert and Travis from True Ballistics to discuss the hog tournaments and the factors that have a played a part in the boys lack of success for the month of March. After coming off a all time high in the tournament for the month of February, the boys of BCBH have slowed down and dropped in the ranks. Robert and Travis explain why they feel things will pick up for them in the months to come and how the will consider handling certain conditions and factors such as drought or heavy rainfall this spring. With Punisher Hunting and JB Ranches battling it out for first with some serious kills in the tournament it is almost certain that BCBH will not come back in the final hours. With the March tournaments coming to a close it is time to start preparing for April's tournaments. Spring is in full bloom and weather is changing as well as farms being planted and food being more available for wildlife, all factors that may come to play for hog hunters competing in the months to come. Charlie also announces the 1st place prize for the month of April in the True Hog Hunters tournament as well as a future give away in an upcoming podcast for tournament members.
Host, Charlie Lobner gets on the line with Punisher Hunting LLC owner/operator Clayton Reynolds. Clayton tells of his early beginnings in hog hunting and how his hobby soon evolved into an obsession that took hold and turned into one of the greatest thrill rides a hunter of any sort may experience. Charlie breaks down hunting with Clayton from his point of view. With a recent hog hunt in the books, Clayton successfully put the guys on numerous hogs on multiple occasions leading to a total of 41 wild hogs bagged between 3 shooters in a single night. These 41 hogs not only set a new high for Punisher Hunting but also pushed Clayton into 1st place in the Army Hog Hunters and True Hog Hunters tournaments with just under 2 weeks left in the month of March.
As the tournament continues to grow with new contestants, Charlie and Travis make their predictions for the month of March and what they think will happen to tournament submissions as Spring approaches. Travis continues to acquire permission to hunt new properties for hogs to keep up with the new names putting up big numbers on the leaderboards, including a local pig slayer with quite the reputation and a hunter known for filling up flat beds with dead hogs. March is still anyone's game with 1st, 2nd and 3rd still close as well as previous winners being just one big hunt away from jumping right back in it. Charlie also announces for the first time what the end of the year prize will be for the True Hog Hunters tournament for the leader in YTD kills submitted and approved for 2021. Hint: It will definitely help adding numbers to future hog tournaments.
With February in the books, Charlie Lobner takes time to talk with Travis Vickery once again on his success and win in both Army Hog Hunters and True Hog Hunters Tournaments. Travis talks of his success and what he has done to catch and kill more hogs as well as acquire more properties for hunting and trapping. Travis has proven in the tournament to be a serious and consistent hog hunter with 66 approved kills so far, 41 coming from the first 2 months of 2021 alone. Even though he ran away with February's tournament, Travis still knows he will have to provide even greater numbers in the future months if he wants to stay on top of the previous winners and the new competition that seems to be nipping at his heels.
Host Charlie Lobner sits down with Travis Vickery A.K.A. BCBH from True Ballistics and February tournament leader for Army Hog Hunters and True Hog Hunters tournaments to talk about this months experiences chasing wild hogs. Travis lost late in January's tournament to Ethan Bain and has doubled down his efforts this month in hopes of winning first place and a prize of a new Stoeger 12 gauge shotgun and a pair of Wiley X sunglasses. Travis tells of his recent winter storm hunt in the snow of south Texas leading up to his total of 24 hogs to date while Charlie is happy to have broken his dry spell with the submission of a lonely boar on a lucky morning walk turned hog hunt to put him in 3rd place in the Army Hog Hunters tournament with less than a week to go.
After days without power due to severe winter storms Charlie hits the mic solo to bring everyone back up to speed on the tournament leaderboard with just 1 week left in the February True Hog Hunters and Army Hog Hunters Tournaments. It looks like BCBH may run away with 1st place this month, but with new blood in the tournament and some previous winners still in the mix, anything can happen. As BCBH has learned in the past, you can never have a large enough lead.
Army Buck Hunters Pro Staffer and 3rd Place winner in the Army Hog Hunters Tournament for January, Patrick Appling, pays a visit to the boys at True Ballistics for some ammunition and a quick talk with Charlie Lobner on the podcast. Patrick compares his hunting experiences in Texas to his old home of Alaska and gives some of his take on hunting wild game in the south and what he tries to do to be successful at it. From whitetail deer to wild hogs, Patrick shares a few of his hunting experiences and what he is doing for the deer population on his property as well as ways to harvest more hogs and acquire access to more property for hunting purposes. Charlie is coming off of a scoreless January and talks about ways he plans to change that for the month of February.
Charlie sits down with Travis Vickery from BCBH as January's tournament comes to an end to talk about hunting. Ethan Bain looks to have taken 1st place from Travis with a very successful hunt that landed him 15 hogs in a single night, putting him at a total of 27 hogs for the month and leaving Travis in the dust with a total of 15. The Army Hog Hunters Tournament has seen its first ever tie for 2nd place between Trisica and Hoggin, with 8 hogs a piece, and Charlie mourns over a dead and very rotten deep freezer that adds only more insult to injury after a very poor performance to open the year.
