Melvin Lee Davis has worked with many great artists within the jazz, soul and RnB world.  For the last eight years he's been Musical Director to Chaka Khan and is founding member of the international member ensemble "Output/Input" which during Covid-19's lockdown recorded and uploaded several tracks, most recently "Soul Deep" with Average White Band's Hamish Stuart".

Join me, in conversation with Melvin as I unearth the tracks which helped to inform his life and career and hear him talk about his mother 'putting the praise on' and the comment he received when he made a mistake during a live performance!

Today I am joined by the multi-million selling international live recording artist Leslie McGregor John, better known as Leee John formerly of Imagination which launched his career.  The band went on to have success with Body Talk, which reached no. 4 in the UK charts in May 1981 and Just An Illusion no. 2 in March 1982.  Other hits include In And Out Of Love, Flashback and Music And Lights.

With Imagination Leee performed in flamboyant form on Top of the Pops on multiple occasions.  As an actor Leee has made appearances on Dr Who, The Adam and Joe Show and in the TV series ReBorn In The USA he appeared alongside Elke Brooks and Tony Hadley.

Next year Leee John will celebrate his 40th Anniversary in the music business by embarking on a major tour.
