A LOT of us are struggling right now. According to the CDC, nearly 40% of adults in the US reported struggling with mental health or substance abuse by June of this year. Nearly 1 out of every 2.
These struggles are at an all-time high. It truly is another pandemic.
If you are feeling overwhelming anxiety over the insane number of tabs in your head that you just can’t seem to close, here are a couple of quick actions that take less than 5 minutes total and can really help you when you are on the verge of becoming completely overpowered by your thoughts.
Acknowledge the overwhelm. This takes about 2 seconds.
It’s okay to tell yourself that you have too much on your plate. It’s a great first step to slowing down and just focusing on the next item that needs your attention.
So many of us suffer in silence. We tell ourselves, “just get through today”. But it doesn’t need to be that way. Call a friend or loved one to unload the pain you are feeling. If you are struggling with addiction or any mental issues, a quick internet search can lead you to a ton of websites, phone numbers, chats, and other valuable resources - and some amazing people that are waiting to help you through.
So if you’re feeling like you can’t come up for air, PLEASE take just a couple of minutes and do at least one of the above. It can only help.
And know, you are not alone.
