JACKSON — Jackson Intermediate School welcomed students and their families Tuesday during its annual Meet the Teachers event. Families completed registration in the cafeteria and visited several stations before heading to classrooms to meet teachers. With students returning to classrooms soon, the Jackson Police Department is reminding motorists to slow down and remain alert around schools and school buses to help keep children safe. The Great Red Snapper Count, utilizing new sampling gear and methods, estimated that far more iconic red snapper are in the Gulf of America than traditional assessment methods had indicated.
