Meghan Quinn grew up in New Jersey and attended Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York, where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications/ Advertising. She moved to Manhattan Beach with her husband Ryan and has spent the last 10 years working in marketing and licensing at both start-ups and fortune 500 companies. She has extensive experience in brand licensing, product development and brand marketing.

Ryan Quinn grew up on Long Island, New York and attended Georgetown University, where he received a degree in Business & Marketing.  He moved to Manhattan Beach from Hoboken where he was working in TV Advertising Tech Sales.  He has since moved into Cyber Security Sales, where he works as an Account Executive for one of the leading cyber security providers. 

In addition to their day jobs, Meghan and Ryan are partners in two startup ventures, Bougie Bakes, a healthy online bakery, and PhotoFund, an on-demand photography app, and this morning, we’re going to learn about PhotoFund and how it works.

Jeff Cason has twelve years experience as a theatrical producer, director, and creative executive. He has founded several theatrical production companies including Sound Stage LIVE, Redlands Civic Light Opera and Broadway In the Park, and has served as Director of Marketing for Concept Design Productions, creating conference and exhibit solutions for Fortune 1000 clients. He is an accomplished freelance lighting, scenic, and projection designer for theatre and events, having worked on over 60 shows throughout Southern California. Most recently, Jeff created, directed and produced “Celebrate! A Fireworks Spectacular” presented by Chevron.

Our guest this morning is Jen Endacott.

Jen is Professional Coach who helps individuals set, and achieve, personal and professional goals. She also works with companies on increasing effective communication, team building and improvement of workplace culture.  Using her training in cognitive therapy, she teaches people to challenge negative thought patterns which helps eliminate self-sabotaging behavior and ultimately changes their outcome results.  She is an unwavering optimist, a believer in people, and the ultimate cheerleader for others!

Jen received her undergraduate degree from Auburn University and went on to achieve her Masters in Counseling Psychology at University of Alabama at Birmingham. From the moment she took her first Psychology class as an undergrad, she knew what her life’s work was going to be.

Our guest this morning is Anna Wilding.

Anna has been cited as iconic for both her work on screen and behind the lens as a director and photographer, as well as writer, producer, actress, and comedian. As a photographer, she was based at the White House from 2015 to 2017, during the Obama administration. Her photographs have received wide critical acclaim - her prints of the Obama White House hang in private collections on both coasts and have been featured in magazines, newspapers, and television, including Variety, Herald de Paris, and Jimmy Kimmel Live.

The Palos Verdes Art Center will host the Opening Reception: Anna Wilding: Celebrate Hope – Photographs of the Obama White House on Saturday, June 8 from 6 to 9 p.m. Attendees will experience the "People's House" through rare images of First Lady Michelle Obama and President Barack Obama as they inhabit the West and East Wings.

This morning, we’re going to learn about Anna’s experience at the White House and what it was like photographing the most powerful couple in the world.

Our guests this morning are Brooke Blake and Slater Heidrich from the local band Good Vibe and Rebekkah Halliwell, Executive Director, Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Los Angeles.

Hailing from Hermosa and Manhattan Beach, this group of South Bay teens deliver during their live performances. Mixing classic rock with contemporary alternative jams, they pay homage to the original artists with strong musicianship and a very cool attitude. Fronted by Austin Moseley on vocals, guitar and ukulele and Brooke Blake on vocals and keyboard, along with bassist Slater Heidrich and drummer Gavin McCree, these kids are already veterans of the South Bay music scene.

Rebekkah Halliwell, a South Bay native and Redondo Beach resident, serves as the executive director of the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Los Angeles, a chapter of the national Epilepsy Foundation. For nearly 14 years, Rebekkah has worked with the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Los Angeles to support the more than 160,000 people in the region affected by epilepsy and their loved ones.

This morning, we’re going to learn a bit about the band and their fundraising concert, Epipalooza, taking place this Saturday, June 1 from 3 to 8 p.m. at The Lighthouse Café and where we are in the battle to end epilepsy.

Our guests this morning are artists Michael Collins and Laura Schuler, Founders of ShockBoxx Gallery in Hermosa Beach.

Laura Schuler is a mixed media artist living and working in Los Angeles. Her style of art represents an expression of movement and energy that incorporates layers of acrylic paint intersecting with spray paint. 

Born in a shitty town in the central valley, Mike Collins was raised amongst dust and misery, themes still present in his work today. Although often hidden underneath sarcasm and girly angst, the reality of his battle with monocular hemi-retinal color blindness pushes through every tear, stitch and imperfection of his meticulous nature. Mike’s work is often described as, "terrible," "god awful," or, "The fucking worst shit I've ever seen." 

ShockBoxx was founded by Laura and Mike in the spring of 2017.  Their mission was to create a gallery that would serve to put Hermosa Beach on the map of the larger Los Angeles art scene, both as a location that would celebrate artists - not only from the South Bay, but from all over the world - and to attract patrons from throughout Los Angeles.

This morning, we’re going to discuss art, the mission of Shock Boxx Gallery, and the Cypress scene.

Beach Cities Symphony - Music Director, Barry Brisk

Barry Brisk first conducted in public at the age of fourteen, when he performed selections from South Pacific at his graduation from Webster Junior High School in West Los Angeles.

Professionally, Brisk has conducted many orchestras in Southern California, as well as in Mexico and Austria.

Maestro Brisk has been Music Director of the Beach Cities Symphony since 1994 and is particularly proud of having expanded the orchestra's repertoire. 

Barry Brisk will be celebrated for his 25 years as concert master prior to the concert on Friday at 6:00 PM - There will be food and refreshments and of course, following the celebration will be a free concert. Parking is $3. Bring three one dollar bills to make it easy to use the parking kiosks.
