    Our guest this morning is Sylvia Gayed, Owner of Manhattan Tax & Accounting.
    Sylvia has more than 15 years of experience in tax and accounting. After earning a BS degree with an emphasis in finance and accounting, she worked as a financial analyst and was hired by Deloitte Consulting as a controller. She opened Manhattan Tax & Accounting in 2005 to provide various accounting services including individual, business, corporate, and LLC tax preparation, tax planning, bookkeeping, payroll, and business incorporation. Sylvia has distinguished herself as a one-stop accounting firm handling all her client’s tax and accounting needs.
    With tax season just around the corner, now is the time to start planning, and this morning, Sylvia is going to give us a few tips on preparing for April 15.

    Dr. Koo completed her undergraduate studies at Princeton University, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude, and her medical training at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, where she earned membership to the AOA and Sigma Xi Society for academic excellence. Dr. Koo obtained her psychiatry residency training at the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Institute at UCLA and her subsequent psychoanalytic training at the New Center for Psychoanalysis.
    She is Board Certified in Psychiatry and Board Certified in Addiction Medicine. For over twenty years Dr. Koo has enjoyed her private practice, providing outpatient psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, and pharmacological treatment for individuals, couples, and families. A pioneer in the development and application of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, Dr. Koo opened the South Bay TMS Therapy Center in 2009.   • Peter Kim, Sloopy's Cafe in North Manhattan
    We will talk about the history of Sloopy's, how Peter Kim and the restaurant have adapted during the pandemic and doing business in the North End of Manhattan Beach. It certainly has different offerings and its own personality up there.
    Sloopy’s has been around since 1967, the name per se.  It was originally called the Hamburger Shack when it was established in 1950 by the original owner, Mary Brown.  In 1964, the Lucas family purchased it, and renamed it Sloopy’s in 1967.  My wife and I purchased Sloopy’s in November of 1989, so we’ve owned it for over 30 years.
    Peter Kim was in finance/investment banking until his wife got sick in 2009, from there on I have been running it.  My wife, Helen Kim, is fine now to the point where she’s been helping me as well as my grown kids who work a primary job.  Both of us grew up in LA.  Peter in Glendale, and Helen in Van Nuys.  Peter went to school at UC San Diego.  His kids are grown.  Son is working at Oracle corp. The oldest daughter is also at Oracle. And my youngest daughter is a Senior at the University of Michigan.  She’s on the golf team.  All three kids played D1 golf, son at USC, daughter at U of M, and youngest at U of M.  The kids all graduated from Mira Costa and went to MBMS.

    Mana has been practicing law for over 15 years. Her practice includes a focus on commercial real estate transactions. She frequently represents landlords and also represents tenants in commercial leasing transactions. Much of her work includes leasing of office and industrial space. She also handles some retail space leasing. Mana’s practice also includes some general business matters. Her clients range from large organizations and other entities with asset and property managers as well as smaller businesses and individuals. She is a partner at Laquer, Urban, Clifford and Hodge LLP.
    Mana graduated high school in 3 years, received her BA from UC Berkeley and her JD/MBA from Pepperdine University. She grew up in the Bay Area and has lived in Manhattan Beach since the late 1990s/early 2000s. Mana primarily works from her home office in Manhattan Beach and is a big advocate for supporting local businesses in Manhattan Beach. In her spare time, Mana maintains an active lifestyle, including running, strength training and beach volleyball. She also (attempts) to surf on occasion. She is also passionate about supporting charitable youth organizations.
