Our guests this morning are Shirley Pe from All Yellow Taxi and Don Szerlip of Adwerx Communications.
Shirley Pe has been in the transportation industry for over 15 years and has been the face of All Yellow taxi for over 4 years. Prior to that, she worked as the VP of Marketing for South Bay Yellow Cab. Shirley is the Public Relations Director for All Yellow Taxi and is currently involved in the paratransit industry. Her passion is to provide our seniors and persons with disabilities the freedom of mobility.
Don Szerlip has had a successful career in marketing, public relations, regional/local government, non-profit and business organizations, as well as a background creating advertising, merchandising and communications programs for various B2B and B2C enterprises. He has extensive experience in local, state and federal legislative processes and political trends, with an emphasis on public works, economic development, telecommunications and transportation issues.
So last week we discussed the various bus and mass transit options servicing Redondo Beach and surrounding areas and today, we’ll hear from the taxi contingent!

Our guest this morning is Fernanda Cassani from Il Fornaio in Manhattan Beach.
Fernanda began working at Il Fornaio as a hostess in Manhattan Beach in 2001 and became Assistant Manager at the Santa Monica location in 2004. She spent 8 years there, moving up to Manager in 2005 then taking over as General Manager in 2012. In April of 2013, she returned to Manhattan Beach location as the General Manager.
This morning, Fernanda is going to tell us about some of the upcoming events diners can look forward to at Il Fornaio including wine dinners and cooking classes.

March 03, 2016 Redondo Beach Police Chief, Keith Kauffman
Our guest this morning is the new Chief of the Redondo Beach Police Department, Keith Kauffman.
Keith has been a police officer since 1994 for the City of Hawthorne. His experience encompasses an array of assignments including patrol, gangs, narcotics, SWAT and more. He has served as a team-member and commander and is a two-time “Medal of Valor” recipient. He achieved the rank of Captain in 2008 and began working on the Coffee with a Cop program in 2011. Captain Kauffman was selected as the new Chief of Police for the Redondo Beach in October of 2015.
Chief Kauffman holds a BA Degree from UCLA in Spanish Literature/Linguistics and an MS Degree from CSDHU in Negotiations/Conflict Management. He is also the 2014 graduate of the California POST Command College, Class 55, and winner of the Dorothy Harris Award for his published journal article.
He enjoys surfing, spearfishing, motocross, and competing with his 13-yr-old son for the highest number of emergency room visits.

Our guest this morning is Valerie Hill – the Administrative Director and Education Specialist for the Roundhouse Aquarium in Manhattan Beach.
Valerie began working at the Roundhouse in 2003 as a volunteer. She moved her way up to paid part time staff and became the Co-director in 2007. Valerie handles administration and is the chief grant writer for the Aquarium, enabling the staff to teach classes to school children. Valerie studied phytoplankton at California State University, Long Beach where she earned her Master’s degree in 2008. Phytoplankton and seaweed remain her favorite topics to teach at the Roundhouse and she loves sharing her passion for the ocean with students and visitors at the Aquarium.
The Roundhouse has several upcoming events and Valerie is going to tell us all about them.

February 25, 2016 Dancing with the South Bay Stars V
Our guests this morning are Christian Wolf, Larissa Bates, Melissa Ginsburg and Rafael Porter from Dancing with the South Bay Stars V. The event takes place this Saturday, February 27 at the James Armstrong Theater in Torrance.
Christian Wolf is the Executive and Artistic Director for the Torrance Cultural Arts Foundation and a regular contributor to this program. His background in the arts is as eclectic as they come. After putting on plays in his living room as a child, he was a performing magician by age 12.
Larissa Bates is a professional dancer and studied ballet, tap, and jazz, beginning at five years of age. She put a strict focus on ballroom dance as a member of The Ballroom Performance Group at The University of Georgia and began teaching ballroom dance immediately after graduation, soon becoming the top female instructor in all of Georgia.
Rafael Porter will be dancing for Families in Schools. He is a native of San Francisco and moved to Los Angeles almost 5 years ago with his family. When he’s not in the office working as a technology consultant, he can often be found playing a pickup game of soccer or hiking in the great outdoors most weekends.
Melissa Ginsburg is dancing for St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She moved to California from Louisiana in 2006, has been a nurse for the last 15 years and is happily married to Jeff Ginsburg, Redondo Beach District 1 City Council Member. Melissa was also a member of the Leadership Redondo Class of 2012.
This morning, we’re going to get the inside scoop and maybe some back stage gossip on this year’s event and find out if our local dancers are ready for the spotlight.
