Born in Matera, Italy, in the 1990s, Carmine Portarulo, known professionally as The Southern, has been deeply passionate about music from a young age.

His journey through music has taken him across diverse underground genres, evolving from pure electronic sounds to the early days of Hip Hop. By the age of 17, The Southern was already immersed in the world of Techno, drawing inspiration from iconic figures such as Carlo Lio, DJ Rush, Truncate, and Ben Sims. His early productions reflected his admiration for these masters, and he quickly developed a distinctive style characterized by a refined and sophisticated sound. Today, The Southern continues to push the boundaries of Techno, striving to create music that stands out in both innovation and quality.
