  • 5: The Rule of 3's - The Pajama People

    Send us Fan Mail

You took on the risk and uncertainty of practice ownership for the chance at something bigger.

But nine out of ten working adults did the exact opposite, on purpose. And yet you keep building incentive systems as though everyone in the building is wired the way you are.

Then you're surprised when the carrot doesn't work on them.

There are three types of people on your team. Two of them can be moved with the right incentives. One of them cannot, and no amount of money will change that.

  • 4: Mastery - A Tale of Two Docs

If working harder were the answer, the hardest working people you know would be the wealthiest people you know.

Have a look around. They're not.

Two docs, twenty years apart, both highly skilled, both producing well. One is trapped and breaking down. The other cut his chair time by eighty percent and kept every dollar.

The difference wasn't skill. It never is.

  • 3: Two Rules

Nothing changes until we do. Annoying, but true.

So I built myself a filter. Two rules, deployed at the exact moment I'd rather be furious.

They cost me nothing, they take no time, and they've reliably produced better outcomes at a lower price - for me, my businesses, and the poor humans who've had to work for me over the years.

They only stop working when I stop using them.

  • 2: THE Answers to the Test

    Send us Fan Mail

You're not sick of mistakes in your practice. You're sick of the same mistakes.

Two assistants, same role, same systems, wildly different results. Working out why took me five years and became the day-one training in every business I've owned since.

There are only two kinds of errors happening in your practice right now. One is 95% your problem. The other isn't yours at all.

Most owners can't tell them apart.

Here are the answers to the test.

  • 1: A New Journey Begins

What do African animals, civil war, and Wall Street have in common with owning a dental practice? Depends how you see the world.

I didn't come to business from dentistry. I came to dentistry from a life of business - 32 years of scar tissue, and a childhood spent under African skies.

None of it taught me anything about teeth. All of it taught me what people actually do under pressure when the stakes are high and the resources are low.

If you're ready to re-engineer the thing you set out to build all those years ago. Find peace and joy, and build a business you'd never want to sell, then get your boots on. We're going on safari.

Most dentists got into this for the lifestyle; the freedom, the autonomy, the life only ownership can buy. Most of them aren't living it. The practice…
