In this episode, I dug into one of the biggest pressures facing British farming: survival. I spoke about why farmers are being squeezed from every angle, from rising input costs and cash-flow strain to the loss of small farms and the public’s growing dependence on supermarkets instead of local producers. I also shared why I believe supporting local farmers is about far more than food alone — it is about protecting livelihoods, legacy, family time and community resilience. From there, I was joined by Will and Larissa of Cornish Golden Grains, who gave a grounded and honest account of what life is really like for a small farming business in Cornwall. We talked about heritage grains, low-input growing, biodiversity, outdated equipment, the challenge of scaling without access to suitable machinery, and why building direct relationships with customers matters more than ever.
Later, Pete Stone joined me to explore the wider monetary system and the ideas that sit behind The Sovereign Project. We discussed debt-based finance, tax, credit creation, contracts and why so many people feel trapped by systems they do not fully understand. Whatever your view, the heart of this conversation was clear: if farmers and families are going to protect their future, they need knowledge, confidence, strong networks and practical alternatives. This was an episode about asking bigger questions, thinking independently and backing the people who grow our food.
