The Europa Clipper mission holds the potential to transform our understanding of where life could exist in the universe, looking beyond Earth to the icy worlds in our solar system. It’s an exciting scientific endeavor that could offer the first clues about extraterrestrial life in the oceans of Europa.
The coolest Space Event of 2024 is happening on 1st and 2nd of November in HUSTON - TX. It’s called New Worlds Event and last years hosted, among the others, Jeff Bezos, Jared Isaacman and Buzz Aldrin. Look at the event and get your tickets here: https://newworlds.org/tickets?am_id=spaceinfoclub
Scheduled for launch in 2024, the Europa Clipper mission aims to study Europa’s habitability. It will orbit Jupiter and make dozens of flybys of Europa, using a suite of sophisticated instruments to analyze the moon’s surface, measure the thickness of its icy shell, and look for signs of a subsurface ocean. Key objectives:
- Understand the composition of the ice shell.
- Investigate the chemistry of the ocean.
- Study potential hydrothermal vents on the ocean floor, similar to those on Earth that support life.
- Search for evidence of plumes of water vapor ejecting from Europa's surface, which could give direct access to the subsurface water.
