  • Ahead of time: the young entrepreneur who started a business that got the attention of Lord Alan Sugar!

"He's way ahead of his time."

That's a common phrase that the world's finest and most gifted visionaries are used to hearing being used to describe them.

In Zack Fortag's case, it's not just an appropriate description - it's a brand.

Zack has enjoyed something of a rocket launcher style success curve, being featured by some of the most respected publications like Forbes, BBC News and Sky News.

He's also been shouted out by Lord Alan Sugar.

Zack was planning his future and getting started in business at the age most of us were going down the park and smoking to try and look cool.

Zack is still much younger than most business owners, but he's building an empire of people to help him succeed.

Check out all the wonderful partnerships and young enterprise initiatives Zack's been creating, here.

    During this conversation, you'll hear:

    • Zack's challenging school life
    • His origins in social enterprise
    • How he handles the employee age differences
    • His amusing story of how he once got removed from his own premises
    • Zack's thoughts on Clubhouse, and other social media
    • Zack's 'Spike'

  • Celebrity ice cream that rings the bells for Deontay Wilder, Philip Schofield and Jake Paul

We apologise for any mouth-watering this episode might accidentally induce.

Ice cream is one of those things that is so subjective, and we all have our favourite brands and flavours.

Our guest for this episode has come up with something truly unique for the UK ice cream market though.

Henry Milroy discovered ice rolls during a trip abroad with his mate, and decided to bring the idea home, having bought the equipment he needed, online.

Without giving too much away for those who want to listen, Pan n Ice has enjoyed a lot of high profile celebrity endorsement, including this impromptu visit from boxer Deontay Wilder.

    During this conversation, you'll hear:

    • Henry's thoughts on university
    • The festival origins of Pan n Ice
    • Celebrity endorsements from Jake Paul, Deontay Wilder, Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.
    • The success of the home kits
    • How Henry uses Tik Tok and Instagram

  • The Spike Trailer - Next guest - Henry Milroy

    Isn't the weather nice again?

Ok, let's try to not make these show notes 'sound' like a 1950s back garden conversation...

There is a point to be made though, regarding the looming sunny weather.

    Ice Cream.

On Monday's new episode of The Spike, we'll be talking all about the ice cream business.

And not just any ice cream....

  • Taking your business on the road and bringing your website a different kind of traffic: the company that uses haulage to spread your marketing message...

Harry Portch, fresh from his own grilling in the previous episode (listen here) is back in the hosting seat.

Ed Hollands is quite an impressive character.

Not only is he one of our youngest guests, but he's also one of the wisest.

Ed runs a company called "Driven Media".

The idea is that they put your company's information and logos on the sides of one of their many partner haulage firm's lorries.

This helps expose them to your target customers who might actually be regularly out on the open road.

Ed's also had a touch of TV fame, having appeared on the popular BBC show Dragon's Den.

    During this conversation, you'll hear:

    Ed's vision for Driven Media.

His experience being on Dragon's Den, and having one of the more 'unique' appearances.

What he feels every entrepreneur needs to consider when launching a new business.

    His own 'Spike'.

  • The Spike Trailer - Next guest - Ed Hollands

It's all back to normal for our next full episode!

Hopefully you enjoyed the previous episode with Elle-Jo taking over things.

On Monday, we'll be publishing the next guest; Ed Hollands.

Ed has an interesting story and he's here to tell us all about the inspiration for his unique advertising platform.

And as a young entrepreneur in his very early twenties, you'll be shocked to learn of the huge opportunity for exposure he enjoyed...

  • What’s YOUR Spike, Harry? Host Harry Portch’s colleague Elle-Jo from the HM Staffing’s recruiting team takes hosting responsibilities for this special...

When you host a podcast called The Spike, which is all about identifying your guests' Spike, it's only a matter of time before someone asks you, yours.

We've had a number of guests on the show, who have told incredibly powerful and inspirational stories, as well as revealing their 'Spike'.

However, we knew that Harry Portch himself had an incredible story of his own, and we needed someone who would be impressive enough with interviewing skills, in order to coax it out of him!

For this special episode, Elle-Jo from the HM Staffing team posted on Linkedin saying she wanted to have a 'play'.

    She finally wore him down.

Having seen Elle-Jo in action on her calls, and in the office, we felt the time was right to let her have her moment.

We hope you'll agree that Elle-Jo did a fantastic job of hosting the show, and we look forward to hearing her back on "The Spike" podcast very soon!

(But not too soon. Right, Harry? 😉)

    During this conversation, you'll hear:

    Harry's proudest achievements.

All about his trip to Uganda.

Why he was featured on BBC Essex.

His reason for starting "The Spike" podcast and a couple of the positive results he's already had from it.

The big learning moment Harry took away from having Lewis Ellis on as a guest.

Elle-Jo and Harry 'get into it' on the subject of university.

How Harry feels prospective candidates should be managing their social media when looking for roles.

    And of course, Harry's 'Spike'.
