This one’s about PSG, but more importantly Everton next, because there’s no time to sit on this. Liverpool didn’t just lose, they looked off it. The setup, the decisions, it all felt wrong and PSG punished it, and that’s the worry now because it raises real questions about Slot, about the tactics, and whether Liverpool are actually ready for that level heading straight into a derby.
We get into all of that, what went wrong and why it looked like Liverpool played straight into their hands, and where that leaves things now, because the biggest misconception is that the tie was lost last week. It wasn’t. PSG looked levels above again.
Then you hear Slot after it saying, “The future looks very bright for this team and this club because we’ve shown we can compete with the champions of Europe and be dominant against them,” and it just doesn’t match what we’ve watched.
There’s also the wider picture, because David Ornstein is reporting that the plan is still to stick with Slot, even without Champions League football, so what does that mean moving forward?
There’s also the Ekitike injury, which could be a big problem, and now it’s Everton next. No time to reset, you’ve just got to go again, so how big has that game just become?
