This episode was never supposed to be an episode.

What started as an impromptu, off-the-cuff conversation between Scarlett Draught and someone off mic turned into one of the most honest spiritual conversations on The Spiritual Realist.

Because the conversation was not originally intended for the podcast, you will hear Scarlett clearly, while the other person is off mic. The audio is less polished than a traditional episode, but the conversation was too real not to share.

In Is Jesus the Only Way?, Scarlett and her conversation partner wrestle with Christianity, spirituality, salvation, heaven, hell, reincarnation, faith, and the fear of being wrong.

They ask the questions people are often taught not to ask:

Can someone be a genuinely good person and still be condemned because they do not believe in Jesus?

Does prayer have to go through Jesus to reach God?

Is salvation about belief, behavior, grace, or something deeper?

And how much of what we believe is rooted in faith — versus fear of choosing the wrong path?

The conversation also moves into reincarnation, spiritual evolution, the afterlife, and why unfamiliar spiritual practices are so quickly labeled evil.

This is not a formal debate, and it was never meant to be.

It is two people with different spiritual perspectives talking honestly, challenging one another, checking one another, and trying to better understand what they believe and why.

Sometimes the conversations we never planned are the ones we most need to hear.

Altars can be powerful—but setting one up without understanding what you’re inviting into your space can be a problem.

In this episode of The Spiritual Realest, Scarlett breaks down several different types of altars, including ancestor altars, money altars, hoodoo altars, and the boveda, while explaining some of the basic elements people may encounter when beginning their own research.

In this episode of The Spiritual Realest, I’m opening up my spiritual toolbox and breaking down some of the different ways people use divination to seek clarity, guidance, and confirmation.

From tarot and oracle cards to pendulums, dowsing rods, playing cards, prayer, and other tools, there are many ways to communicate with spirit—but that does not mean every tool is meant for everybody. I share how I personally work with these tools, how I cleanse and prepare them, and why your spiritual hygiene and relationship with your own spirit team should always come first.

I also introduce my own 60-card Oracle deck for the first time and talk about the intention, prayer, and spiritual guidance that went into creating it.

Then we get hands-on. I demonstrate how I use pendulums and rods for yes-or-no questions, explain how dowsing works for me, and even ask my spirit guide a few questions in real time.
But the biggest message is this: use discernment. Do your research. Know what you are working with. Be intentional about what you invoke, and do not pick up a spiritual practice just because you saw somebody else doing it. Spirituality is personal, and what works in my house may not be what is meant for yours.

Before the candle is lit, the herbs are gathered, or the ritual begins, the first spell is often spoken through your own mouth.

In this episode, I’m talking about the power carried by our words and how easily they can plant seeds of confidence, fear, possibility, limitation, blessing, or destruction. I share a personal experience that taught me how quickly spoken intentions can begin shifting our lives, sometimes before we believe we are ready.

We also examine the words spoken over us by family, friends, partners, media, and society, and how repeated messages can become part of our subconscious identity. Being told you are always late, not smart enough, incapable of changing, or destined to struggle can become a script you continue living unless you intentionally rewrite it.

Your tongue can speak life or reinforce the very conditions you are trying to escape. Instead of declaring that you are always broke, overwhelmed, unlucky, or unable to change, you can begin choosing language that leaves room for growth, abundance, discipline, and transformation.

This week, I’m challenging you to become more intentional with the words you speak over yourself and others. Speak life. Encourage yourself. Break the spell of every limiting story that no longer belongs to you.

Because your words are not empty. Your words are spells.

Spirituality should bring you into greater alignment, not pull you away from your body, your relationships, or your everyday responsibilities.

In this episode, I’m talking about what spiritual imbalance can look like, from anxiety, exhaustion, and emotional triggers to relying so heavily on tarot or other spiritual tools that you stop trusting your own inner voice. Not everything is a spiritual attack, and not every decision needs to be taken to the altar. Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is slow down, ground yourself, and take care of your human needs.

I also share how moving too quickly can create unnecessary tower moments, why divine timing matters, and how vetiver can support grounding, emotional stability, and spiritual realignment. Spiritual growth is not about rushing to become more gifted. It is about creating balance between your human connection and your connection with God.

Spiritual alignment is freedom. Take care of your human side with the same intention you give your spiritual side, because both are necessary for lasting growth.

My parents loved me, protected me, and did what they believed was best for me. But love and good intentions do not always prevent childhood wounds.

In this episode, I open up about being introduced to dieting at an early age, struggling to believe my body was acceptable as it was, and learning that parts of my personality did not always fit what others expected a girl to be. My mother wanted to protect me from how the world treated bigger bodies. My father wanted his only daughter to embrace her femininity. Neither of them intended to cause harm, but those experiences still shaped how I saw my body, my identity, and myself.

When I became a parent, I made a conscious decision not to pass those pressures down. I wanted my daughter to have a healthy relationship with her body, movement, food, femininity, masculinity, and the freedom to be exactly who she was.

This conversation is not about blaming our parents or pretending they did not love us. It is about recognizing that people can love us deeply and still leave us with something we must heal. We cannot always control what was planted in us, but we can decide what continues through us.

What did you inherit that you never wanted to pass down? What behavior in your child triggers something unresolved within you? And what can you change now so the cycle ends with you?

I am looking honestly at what shaped me, honoring the people who raised me, and choosing not to repeat what no longer serves the generations coming after me.

I share a deeply personal story about toxic love, control, obsession, and the moment I finally had to choose freedom over possession.

This episode is about learning that not every thought is truth and not every attachment is alignment. It is a reminder to pause before reacting, observe before defending, and ask ourselves the harder questions: Am I trying to prove something? Am I acting from fear? Am I trying to control something just so I can feel secure?

Because ego reacts, but spirit observes. And real love should never require me to lose myself just to keep it.
