You have a job to do as a Christian. You can’t afford to fall asleep on the job. “Let us not sleep as others sleep but let us keep awake and be sober” (1 Thes 5:6). “Be watchful, stand firm in the faith and act like men” (1 Col 16:13). God will never ask you to do something you can’t do. God gives you a job, to nurture your soul. To cultivate your garden. To nurture your life both physically and spiritually and bring God maximum glory. God has an excellent retirement system for you. There are blessings in time and in eternity. God expects of you a lifestyle of humility and of service. “The plans of the diligent lead to an advantage” (Prov 21:5). Don’t be a sleeper. Do your job. Cultivate your soul so it reflects the light of God.
