Six days after one of the biggest nights of his life, Emmet Brennan sat down with us and held absolutely nothing back.

From living just 500 yards from Croke Park to walking out and fighting there in front of a huge home crowd, Emmet takes us inside a night he will never forget.

He lost the fight. But somehow, it felt like a win.

We talk about the years behind that moment too. Walking away from boxing. Coming back. Taking out a loan. Putting everything on the line. Chasing an Olympic dream when there were far easier options available.

He made it to the Olympics.

It did not go the way he wanted, but the journey tells you everything about the man.

Emmet also speaks with remarkable honesty about where he is now. At 35, he knows the body has slowed down. He knows he is not the fighter he was five years ago. There may be another couple of fights, but he is realistic about the level and about what the future looks like.

From growing up in a sailing family to competing on the biggest stage in world sport, Annalise’s story is one of talent, obsession, pressure, resilience and perspective.

What a week it was for Irish sport.

Mark Brandon and Michael Meehan had a huge amount to get through in this week’s Sporting Review.

She walked away from boxing, battled addiction, built a business, came back - and became European champion.

Shauna Browne’s story is extraordinary, and on this episode of The Sporting Club Ireland Podcast, she tells it with incredible honesty.

Shauna came through a golden generation of Irish women’s boxing, sharing the ring with Katie Taylor, Kellie Harrington and Amy Broadhurst, and sparring with Katie along the way.
