With the NFL and MLB on hiatus for the day, Hour 1 is all about the NBA today. The Phoenix Suns and the Golden State Warriors got testy last night, resulting in Klay Thompson getting ejected. Calvin has his thoughts on the Suns trying to do a little too much this early in the season. From doing too much to not doing enough, the Dallas Mavericks fell to the New Orleans Pelicans who didn’t have Zion Williamson, Herb Jones, or Brandon Ingram. The San Antonio Spurs are in action tonight, and the Russell Westbrook trade talk is coming up again.

With another 24 hours to sit on Monday’s report of the benching of Matt Ryan in Indianapolis, Calvin believes head coach Frank Reich may not have had a choice in the matter. In the NBA, the San Antonio Spurs have shocked the region with a 3-1 start, and head coach Gregg Popovich is addressing the matter of tanking… kind of.

When it comes to traditions, the world can get pretty particular when they aren’t followed. Texas head football coach Steve Sarkisian felt the eyes of the boosters on him when he led team off the field on Saturday without pausing for the school’s alma mater in front of the fans. The coach has since issued an apology, but Calvin has an issue with the school’s attachment to the song. From one iconic franchise to another, the New England Patriots got beat down on Monday Night football, but the score isn’t the big story. Bill Belichick has a quarterback controversy on his hands, and his comments are doing anything to quiet the matter.

Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady have put their teams in tough spots, and both squads are looking rough through the first seven games of the season. With everything else going on off the field for TB12, Calvin hasn’t seen him play this badly on it. Speaking of bad quarterback play, Matt Ryan has been benched for the Indianapolis Colts for his poor performance thus far, never mind his “injury”. That puts Sam Ehlinger in the driver’s seat the rest of the way.

The World Series is officially set as the Houston Astros will face the Philadelphia Phillies at the end of the week. While Houston is riding hot, the New York Yankees could burn up entirely, starting with manager Aaron Boone. In college football, the Clemson Tigers extended their home winning streak sending fans to storm the field. With the win coming against Syracuse, Calvin has an issue with the students reacting like that. This weekend, Dak Prescott returned to quarterback the Dallas Cowboys, who picked up a win in Detroit thanks to the defense once again. Does Dallas have enough on offense to truly contend in the playoffs?

The San Antonio Spurs opened their season last night, suffering a massive beatdown by the Charlotte Hornets. Just one game into the season, a fan base that was calling for the team to tank is now calling for the franchise to fire head coach Gregg Popovich. Outside of the Alamo City, other teams got going last night too, and Calvin is liking what the Portland Trail Blazers have going one game in.
