Continuing with the 2024 NBA Playoffs, the Los Angeles Clippers lost Kawhi Leonard going into Game 4 but still got the win to tie the series with the Dallas Mavericks. If the Clippers can find a way to win, Paul George’s contract negotiations will get a strong boost. Speaking of that series, Tony Brothers has been behind some poor officiating and Calvin wants an age limit for referees. Staying with the Western Conference, the Oklahoma City Thunder look to join the Timberwolves in the next round if they can sweep the New Orleans Pelicans tonight.

All offseason, the Dallas Cowboys have known the running back position was one of need and entered the 2024 NFL Draft in the same spot. Despite rating Texas’ Jonathan Brooks highly, Jerry Jones & Co. didn’t take him or anyone else through the seven rounds, signing Ezekiel Elliott today instead. In the NBA, the first round of the playoffs is still rolling for everyone except the Phoenix Suns and Minnesota Timberwolves after Anthony Edwards led the young Wolves in a sweep of the star-studded Suns.

Just because the NFL was holding the draft, the NBA wasn’t taking the night away from the 2024 NBA Playoffs. In LA, the Lakers saw their season all but come to an end as the Denver Nuggets came from behind again to get the win and put LeBron & Co. on the brink of elimination. A moment toward the game that didn’t escape viewers at home was D’Angelo Russell who was caught on his cellphone and snacking at the end of the bench while the rest of the team was huddled during a time out. On the slate for tonight, Damian Lillard will have to once again lead the Milwaukee Bucks against the Indiana Pacers without the help of Giannis Antentokounmpo as they hope to regain the lead in the series.

There were a number of teams on Thursday night that were obviously going to select a quarterback. The Atlanta Falcons weren’t among those ranks but still took advantage of the talent pool, drafting Michael Penix Jr. with the eighth-overall pick despite giving Kirk Cousins $100M in guaranteed money last month. It was a selection that has sparked debate across the country and the guys were no exception, sitting on different sides of the fence. From Caleb Williams to Penix Jr., and even Jayden Daniels, the transfer portal gave a number of first-round picks a second chance in college that were literally life-changing.

There’s not a league in America with more pull than the NFL, and that showed on Thursday night in Detroit as a record crowd showed up in the Motor City for the 2024 NFL Draft. That wasn’t the only record set on the night with a historic run of offensive players taken consecutively in the first round, spearheaded by the quarterback class. The Chicago Bears had a great evening, taking Caleb Williams first overall and then snagging Rome Odunze with the ninth pick, just stacking on top of an already loaded group of skill position players. In the Mile High City, Sean Payton has his quarterback of the future after selecting Bo Nix out of Oregon. Listening to the coach, it is pretty clear why.
