  • Volume 44: The Pirates Beat the Tarheels 41-19
    an
On Volume 44 of the Sports Objective, we take a look back at ECU’s 41-19 win over North Carolina on Saturday at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.
After leading 21-19 at halftime, the Pirates outscored the Heels, 20-0, following intermission.
ECU used a very balanced offensive attack (220 rushing and 290 passing)  and a swarming defense to earn their third straight win in a series that doesn’t have any future games scheduled.
Bubba and Kyle were glad to eat crow!

Volume 43: Pirates seek to bounce back against Tar Heels

To get you ready, we chat with the longtime Voice of the Pirates Jeff Charles, former ECU running back Breon Allen and Adam Lucas from goheels.com and the Carolina Insider Podcast.

  • Volume 42: Sizing Up The Sun Belt with Adam Witten and Matt Stolz
On Volume 42 of The Sports Objective, the guys take a look at the Sun Belt Conference, as they chat with the play-by-play announcers for App State (Adam Witten) and Arkansas State (Matt Stolz).
The Mountaineers, who are led by former ASU quarterback and sixth-year coach Scott Satterfield, are replacing veteran signal-caller Taylor Lamb. Lamb's replacement Zac Thomas lit it up against Penn State and had his club on the brink of a huge upset in Happy Valley, as the Mountaineers' furious 4th quarter rally fell just shy in a 45-38 OT loss against the No. 10 Nittany Lions.  ASU has won 30 games over the last three seasons.
Neal Brown and Troy will likely be ASU's primary challenger in the East.
Arkansas State, which has found continuity and much success with head coach Blake Anderson over the last several years, is expected to be the favorite in the West.

  • Volume 41: Pirate Apocalypse: ECU Suffers Worst Loss in Program History!
After multiple weather delays forced the postponement of Saturday's season opener, ECU and NC A&T met at 3:30 on Sunday afternoon in Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.
The Pirates missed some golden opportunities to seize control of the game in the first half and after struggling for most of the first half, the Aggies put together a touchdown drive on the final possession of the opening 30 minutes.  Their first score came on a 100 yard interception by Mac McCain III with just over five minutes left in the opening quarter.
ECU couldn't run the ball all day long and redshirt sophomore quarterback Reid Herring, who had attempted just a single pass prior to Sunday, put it in the air 65 times.  He spread it around nicely, as Terrell Green had 10 catches and redshirt freshman Blake Proehl hauled in nine!

  • Volume 39: Will NDSU capture record-setting 7th national title?
After winning 5 national titles on the Division II level, North Dakota State transitioned to the FCS (formerly 1-AA) ranks in 2004.  The Bison has won six of the last seven national titles to tie current Sun Belt member Georgia Southern for the all-time record.  With Eastman Stick back under center and many other key pieces, Chris Klieman's club is tough to bet again.
An obvious choice to challenge them is James Madison.  The Dukes are 28-2 over the last 2 seasons under Head Coach Mike Houston.  JMU won the 2016 title before falling to NDSU last year in Frisco (TX).
We talk to the play-by-play voice of JMU, Dave Thomas, and Coach Houston about the Dukes.
We also spoke with Jeff Kolpack, North Dakota State Beat Writer of InForum.com, about the Bison.

  • Volume 38: David Glenn of ACCSports.com & Antwan Staley of Athlon talk ACC!
Over the last three seasons, the Clemson Tigers are a staggering 40-4 with 3 ACC titles and CFB Playoff title under Dabo Swinney.
Will anyone be able to dethrone the Tigers' historical run?  Who--if anyone--could potentially challenge them in the Atlantic Division?
Miami is most people's pick to repeat in the Coastal.  Who could be a surprise contender there?  Duke has done it before under longtime coach David Cutcliffe.  With a talented veteran like Daniel Jones at quarterback and a stout defense, may the Blue Devils be up to the challenge again?  Or will Georgia Tech bounce back from an off year to push THE U?
The guys are joined by David Glenn of ACCSports.com & The David Glenn Show, as well as Antwan Staley of Athlon Sports (Miami Beat Writer) to talk about these topics and more in our preview of the ACC!

Then, while we are talking Conference USA, we are joined by FAU play by play announcer Ken LaVicka and Marshall Voice Steve Cotton.
After winning 11 games in year 1 under Lane Kiffin, will the Owls repeat in Conference USA and bust into a New Year's Day bowl?
Boise State has a seasoned coach and veteran quarterback in Brett Rypien, will the Broncos bust into another New Year's Day bowl?
Week 0 is in the books and we have a lot of content headed your way as we move toward Week 1 of the College Football season!

  • Volume 36: FBS Independent Preview: Could Notre Dame be a playoff contender?
You've heard about it over our last several podcasts.  NOW, it is here!  With four WEEK ZERO games on the docket this Saturday, August 25th, we will begin taking our in-depth look at the FBS by discussing the 6 Independents!
First, we will talk to Pete Sampson--The Athletic's Notre Dame Beat Writer--about what we can expect from Notre Dame.  Do the Fighting Irish have what it takes to make a run at the CFB Playoff?  They started 8-1 last year--with that lone loss coming by a single point to runner-up Georgia, but stumbled some down the stretch before closing with a Citrus Bowl victory over LSU.
BYU had a very unsual 4-win year under its second-year head coach Kalani Sitake.  Can the Cougars return to the postseason and put a more potent offense on the field?
New Mexico State went to and won its first bowl in nearly 60 years last year under Doug Martin.  They lost their QB, but can the Aggies build on that rare success.
Jeff Monken has steadily returned the pride to the Army football program, as the Black Knights have won 18 games and beaten Navy the last two seasons.
Former Nebraska star Turner Gill, who coached Buffalo and Kansas, is in his 7th season in Lynchburg and will guide the Liberty Flames into the FBS ranks.
Mark Whipple seems to be on the verge of a turnaround in Amherst, as the Minutemen won 4 of their final 6 in 2017 after starting 0-6 with six narrow defeats.  They have a very talented signal-caller leading the way!
Stay tuned as tomorrow we will continue our FBS preview with a look at the Mountain West, Conference USA and MAC!!
