Kyle Nicholas interviews Micah Schwartzman, a legal scholar specializing in religion and constitutional law, about the current state of religious liberty in the United States, and how resurgent forms of anti-liberalism are challenging longstanding American legal norms like the separation of church and state.

Daryn Henry interviews Melani McAlister about her new book The Kingdom of God Has No Borders: A Global History of American Evangelicals, which argues that the public significance of American evangelicals cannot be understood without attending to their global context. McAlister is Professor of American Studies and International Affairs at George Washington University. Her research focuses on the on the multiple “global visions” produced by and for Americans.

Leah Daughtry, influential Democratic operative and Pentecostal pastor, visited our project at UVA to speak about the relationship of religion and politics. She also sat down with the project co-director, Charles Mathewes, to talk about recapturing religion from the religious right, how to engage the “nones,” and why she got involved in politics in the first place.
