This week we’re talking about Mark Hamill’s comments on Twitter regarding the Force “killing” Luke Skywalker, meanwhile The Last Jedi is holding the lead in U.S. Blu-Ray sales. Also, Kotaku’s recent article on Rockstar Games and ‘Crunch’ in the Video Games industry, and how it may explain why DICE seems slower with updates than other companies. Lastly, Jade Raymond recently left EA Motive, the studio she founded, and the coverage may provide some clue as to why. But this seems to be a problem at EA, with execs and directors leaving Star Wars titles with alarming regularity. It’s almost like they don’t know what they’re doing with the Star Wars IP.

This may not be a popular opinion, but with the recent article on @RockstarGames by @Kotaku, maybe #Battlefront2 isn't as fast with the content updates because @EA_DICE doesn't treat it's employees like garbage with unreasonable mandatory hours? @BenWalke @phatseejay

Three ideas that launch this week’s discussion. It all comes down to the lesson of The Last Jedi, a lesson that the Geeks and Gamers crowd sadly missed. Within lies a cautionary tale lest we miss the lesson ourselves.

First, will Kylo Ren be redeemed, and could Leia be the one to do it? Speculation on redemption and the balance of the Force. Second, a little more on the editor who fired Chuck Wendig from his Marvel comics, which springboards into a discussion about how to come together in the center between the extremes. Finally, a legal disclaimer from Lucasfilm replaces a list of fan sites and podcasts. What does that mean for the future of the Star Wars fan community? It probably means that professionalism and civility are rather important.

Chuck Wendig was fired from Marvel Comics on Friday, October 12th, and I have thoughts and opinions! I don’t like it, but I do understand it. Spoiler: It’s not really about politics, sorry about your feelings otherwise. Also, talking about how it was George Lucas himself who was making notes on Droid Autonomy–or as has been postulated for decades now, Artificial Intelligence and Sentience–as far back as 2002 during the production of Attack of the Clones. This is not a new idea, and it’s not the insertion of some new far-left ideology into Star Wars. Maybe you should read I, Robot by Isaac Asimov, published in 1950.

Perhaps they are not technically ‘Jedi’ at all, and that will be Lucasfilm’s continuity ‘out’ for surviving Darth Vader’s wrath, and they will avoid making Yoda a liar. There’s a new trailer out for Battlefront 2! It looks like a fantastic and massive game, but the jury is still out on it’s future development. How much will they expand it, and should they add the beloved Galactic Conquest feature down the road?
