Chip Berlet is an investigative journalist, scholar, and activist specializing in the study of conspiracy theories and extreme right-wing movements in the United States. He is the author or editor of many books, including Right-Wing Populism In America: Too Close for Comfort (Guilford Press, 2000, with Matthew N. Lyons) and most recently Trumping Democracy: From Reagan to the Alt-Right (Routledge, 2019).
