Omar Khan has been the Steelers GM since taking the position after the 2022 NFL Draft. Since then, he's had his fair share of great moves and draft picks, but an equal amount of bad decisions, including giving out heavy contracts that haven't aged well. In addition, he has butchered the wide receiver position, hasn't signed a long-term fix at cornerback, and had two aging veterans at the QB position. He has nailed most of his NFL Draft picks and we can expect some of those home-grown talents to be extended. Mike McCarthy has officially been hired as the 17th head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers and thus the Mike McCarthy Era Has Begun for the Steelers. He had his introductory press conference, got emotional, and immediately opened up about what the city of Pittsburgh and the history of the Steelers franchise means to him. He spoke from a place of sincerity and care. The Steelers have a coach that wants to win them a championship and although there are serious doubts, that's all we wish for is a championship. Steelers hired Mike McCarthy as new head coach and the overwhelming feedback has been mostly negative. Art Rooney II, Omar Khan and the entire Steelers front office had a great opportunity to turn the Pittsburgh Steelers around, to go after someone new and young. Instead, they opted to go with a copy of Mike Tomlin and are just settled with staying in mediocrity. This was the most lazy, safe, and complacent hire possible.
