ABOUT CLAIRE:
"I have been seriously writing since 2001 when I attended a series of evening classes in Creative Writing. I kept writing my ideas down, whilst raising a family, until in 2016 I published my first book, ‘Pure Human City’.
As my children were growing up, I worked with small groups of children creating a story at the local primary school. I loved doing this and noticed that some children came back to work with me several times.
I wanted to give children outside the school environment the opportunity to have as much fun as I saw the children at the school were having, so I published my second book, ‘I Can Create Stories’ in 2018.
‘I Can Create Stories’ is an A4, interactive book where children can read, draw, create and listen to stories.
I offered ‘I Can Create Stories’ to the library, but the comment that came back to me was they didn’t want to encourage children to draw in library books. To be able to give children who went to the library the opportunity to explore their imaginations I then published, in an A5 size ‘I Can Create Stories (Story Edition)’ in 2019.
In ‘I Can Create Stories (Story Edition)’ children can read or have the stories read to them, draw on their own paper the pictures that come into their mind, create stories from the free downloadable activity sheets on my website and listen to the audio files attached to the book. I believe all children should be able to access stories in whatever way they choose.
I am passionate about getting children to increase their confidence in themselves and in their abilities through story creating. I run story creating workshops for children.
I have written a novel and am currently going through the steps to get it published."
