  • 241: The Best and Worst Wrestling PPV Taglines
This week, Vaughn discusses his little Twitter dust-up with Dave Meltzer and his incels over whether his comments on Sammy Guevara in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter about the term "rape" being a common way to describe a man thinking a woman was attractive were accurate or not 20 years ago, much less four years ago. • 240: Evolution of Wrestling Fandom; Live Commentary of Flair/Steamboat III
This week, Nick and Vaughn revisit last week's discussion of sexual predators in wrestling and how we need to be accountable and call that out. They also discuss the latest in the WWE COVID-19 breakout at the Performance Center, with Renee Young, Kayla Braxton, and Adam Pearce publicly stating they've tested positive. Then, the guys discuss the evolution of their wrestling fandom through their childhood to adult years. With the wrestling industry just in a sucky state right now inside and outside of the ring, hopefully a trip down memory lane and discussing how their fandom's changed through the years will bring a little joy and memories back of when wrestling was, dare we say, good. They round the show out by live commentating the third match in the epic Ric Flair vs. Ricky Steamboat trilogy from WCW WrestleWar, which took place on May 7, 1989 from the Nashville Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.Follow us on Twitter [@nickpiccone] [@VaughnMJohnson] [@ShootersRadio]You can subscribe to The Straight Shooters on the following platforms: [Apple Podcasts], [Stitcher], [Google Podcasts], [Spreaker], [Spotify], [iHeartRadio], [Pandora], [TuneIn Radio], [Player FM] and wherever else you get your podcasts!Exclusive Patreon content: [patreon.com/shootersradio]Facebook: [The Straight Shooters]E-mail: [[email protected]]

  • 236: Tyson/Jericho mimics Tyson/Austin, Starrcade '86 Scaffold Match Live Commentary
AEW's banking on Mike Tyson for some mainstream exposure - and that's a good thing for the company. As far as how it played out on the latest episode of Dynamite... well... let's just say it was as close to a recreation of the Tyson/Austin angle from January 1998 as you could get. This week, Nick and Vaughn discuss why AEW decided to go that route instead of setting up Tyson vs. Jericho differently so it wouldn't come to look like such a carbon copy of an angle 22 years ago. The guys also discuss their thoughts about AEW running a storyline that began in WWE 10 years ago. Then, we've got some more live commentary goodness. We're tackling the Scaffold Match between the Midnight Express and Road Warriors from Starrcade 1986 to round out the show.Note: Nick apologizes for how bad his microphone sounds. It'll be fixed next week.Follow us on Twitter: [@nickpiccone] [@VaughnMJohnson] [@ShootersRadio]You can subscribe to The Straight Shooters on the following platforms: [Apple Podcasts], [Stitcher], [Google Podcasts], [Spreaker], [Spotify], [iHeartRadio], [Pandora], [TuneIn Radio], [Player FM] and wherever else you get your podcasts!Exclusive Patreon content: [patreon.com/shootersradio]Facebook: [The Straight Shooters]E-mail: [[email protected]]
