We love knowing. We insist on certainty and predictability. We need to learn how to let go of these demands if we want to live from our souls. But don't worry, it's only fear.

Field Guides introduces Part 2 of The Subversive Soul, letting us know that the remainder of the book is meant to be a companion on the way to becoming more soulful. In Part 2 we learn the core competencies our souls insist we acquire along the way. They're kind of like a field guide for the journey.

To be wild is to be natural, organic, belonging to the earth. The soul is wild, and like many kinds of wild things, she will often disrupt our neat and tidy ways.

The soul is embodied. Or maybe it's more precise to say the soul and the body are in cahoots.

My soul is not concerned with external measures of success, power, or popularity, but instead lives by her own values. Knowing this, accepting this, will make it easier to cooperate with the soul's subversive agenda - for our own good.
