    Dr. Palmer earned his Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral degrees in Electrical Engineering from Oakwood University and The Ohio State University. He is currently a professor and runs a research laboratory at Wright State University pursuing biologically-inspired mobile robots and algorithms. Specifically, Dr. Palmer seeks to increase the utility of legged systems for use in planetary exploration, time critical search and rescue, and military reconnaissance.

    Lately, Dr. Palmer has also been interested in trying to preach the power of scientific inquiry into communities which are underrepresented in science and engineering fields, as well as inspiring his students to think about the social ramifications of the jobs they accept and the projects they work on.

    Dr. Bell joined the faculty of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department with a joint appointment in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. She obtained a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University (2012) and a BS in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Biomedical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2006). In addition, she spent a year abroad as an academic visitor at the Institute of Cancer Research and Royal Marsden Hospital in the United Kingdom (2009-2010). Prior to joining the faculty, Dr. Bell was a postdoctoral fellow with the Engineering Research Center for Computer-Integrated Surgical Systems and Technology at Johns Hopkins University and served as President of the Homewood Postdoc Association. Dr. Bell has published over 40 scientific journal articles and conference papers, holds a patent for SLSC beamforming, and is the recipient of numerous awards, grants, and fellowships, including the prestigious NIH K99/R00 Pathway to Independence Award (2015), MIT Technology Review’s 35 Innovators Under 35 Award (2016), the NSF CAREER Award (2018), and the NIH Trailblazer Award (2018).

After the successful completion of the 1.6 million square foot replacement hospital for The Johns Hopkins Hospital in 2012, Danielle was appointed to lead the Furniture, Fixtures, Equipment and Activation (FFE&A) Service Center for Johns Hopkins Health System. She also leads the business development and operational functions for the department. Danielle consults regularly with a variety of department clinicians, administrators and managers to program their needs, develop their project plans, as well as create project synergy. She also serves on the national board of Women in Healthcare, a non-profit organization structured to support the development and well-being of women in the healthcare industry.


    Danielle is passionate about influencing positive change and inspiring others to reach their full potential by recognizing their value and challenging the status quo. Danielle holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Baltimore, Merrick School of  Business.
