“Connection rich, cash poor.”
That line from my latest Super Connectors podcast episode with Michael Roderick hit hard.
In Season 2 Episode 9, Michael breaks down what it really means to be a super connector, not as some flashy title, but as what he calls a “web spinner”:
Stop trying to climb higher ladders.
Start spinning bigger webs. 🕸️
A few golden nuggets from our chat:
💡 Ambiguity is kryptonite to a connector
If you say “I’d like to meet anyone” you’ll meet no one.
Specific asks = specific intros = real opportunities.
🔑 You’re sitting on a pocket full of keys“
The keys to all the doors we need opened are in other people’s pockets…but you’re also walking around with a pocket full of keys and no idea who you can help.”
💸 Connection rich, cash poor is a real problem
We talked about the dark side of always “giving first”:
– Making intros for everyone
– Deals happening without you
– And no clear, fair way to be rewarded
That’s where transparency comes in, and why tools like introstars help take the awkwardness out of:
“I’d love to help you… but is there a referral fee if this turns into a deal?”
Instead of weird money chats, you can simply say:
“I use a platform that tracks intros and, if a deal happens, there’s a pre-agreed referral fee.”
No drama. No guessing. No resentment.
If you:
Make a lot of intros
Want to be known as “the connector”
…but also don’t want to be broke
then this episode is very much for you.
