Luke 10:38-42. The story of Mary and Martha teaches us to re-prioritize, rest in, and remain in Jesus.

An important feature of discernment is a willingness to defend the truth when confronted with error. To encourage our pursuit of discernment we will consider three issues.

Beginning in Romans 12:9 and going through chapter 13 Paul strings together a series of exhortations that further detail a fully devoted life. We can live a life consistent with God’s will when we commit ourselves to key expressions of Christian faithfulness. What does this look like? In verses 9 through 13 Paul offers 9 general exhortations to faithfulness.

In Romans 12:3-8, Paul admonished the church in Rome to think carefully about themselves and their role in God's church. We can live fully devoted lives to Christ when we think rightly about ourselves and our place in the church. So how do we think rightly? Consider three lenses through which we should view ourselves.

Tonight we move forward in our discussion of discernment by defending it. In particular we will note how the Bible encourages God’s people to not only protect themselves against false teaching but to be actively warn others of dangerous teaching.

In 1 Peter 1:3-9, the apostle encouraged believers facing tremendous persecution with the promises related to the resurrection. We can live in faith in spite of trials and difficulties because of the benefits given to us through the resurrection of Jesus. What are those benefits? We can note at least four.
