#FirstThingIsFirst|  Various parts of eThekwini in KwaZulu-Natal are experiencing water supply problems. Supply has been interrupted at the Durban Heights treatment works, which saw its pump destroyed by the recent floods. Most of the central, south, north and inner west regions are without water. But the city said that the problem was being attended to

• The Brake Village community in Tongaat, Durban braved the cold on Monday morning after having to make do without running water in their homes almost 50 days since devastating floods hit the province. Local residents blocked Watson Highway, burning trees and tyres, and demanding immediate action from government officials.
• There have been large-scale protests in recent weeks after the City was accused of ignoring the calls of tens of thousands of people, who have no access to proper water supply since Tongaat Water Works was destroyed in the April floods. The City said it could take up to 10 months to rebuild the facility.

First Thing is First | Senzo Meyiwa Murder Trial Update: Defence lawyer, advocate Malesela Teffo, has claimed that an eyewitness will testify Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa was shot dead by mistake by his girlfriend, singer Kelly Khumalo.

Teffo represents four of the men accused of killing Meyiwa at Khumalo's home in Vosloorus, Boksburg, on 26 October 2014.

• With a decision now taken on the fuel levy, the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy has announced adjustments to fuel prices that come into effect on 1 June. This follows the announcement that the fuel levy would be suspended for a further two months.
• The price of petrol will rise by R2.33 for 95 and R2.43 for 93 from midnight on Tuesday.
• The price of diesel will increase by R1.10 and R1.07 for the different grades.
• Illuminating paraffin will increase by R1.56 from midnight.
• This rise in petrol price comes from several international and local factors such as the crude oil price, the rand/dollar exchange rate and termination and removal of the demand side management levy.
• The official unemployment rate retreated from a record high of 35.3% in the fourth quarter of 2021 to 34.5% in the first quarter of 2022, Statistics SA reported on Monday.
