OK he didn't exactly speak, but he did have a pulse, and strong enough to be noticed by an alert morgue attendant. That was enough to get 20-year-old Sgt. Urban Miyares released from the body bag he was in, in Vietnam.
Casualties happen on the battlefield, right? This case was a little different. Sgt. Miyares went into a diabetic coma and lost his sight right smack during a fire fight. They thought he was dead, and tossed him into a body bag, and that was that. Thank goodness for a strong heartbeat, a will to live, and some extraordinarily good hearing.
Since that time, the undauntable Sgt. Miyares has adjusted to life without sight, and a few other conditions – a stroke, thyroid removal, kidney transplant, digistive problems, and some issues with balance. He is classified as a walking paraplegic due to nerve damage in his legs.
Tune in to meet the founder of Challenged America and the Disabled Business Persons Association. What a story!
