Today on the podcast , we will be having a conversation inspired by a discussion I had with a good friend who happens to work at the same school as me. We were talking about mental health and anxiety and how worried we were about the rising generation. And so that’s what I want to dive into today

It was election week. And it was one of the most heated elections ever. Certainly one of the most emotional elections. Trump won and will be the 47th president of the united states of America. There are a lot of big and mixed emotions right now. Republicans are celebrating and Democrats are grieving. And these weeks following the election there are a few key things I want to remind you and focus on so we can continue to be strong and be kind.

Today, I want to talk about how we can build trust in this digital age. As a school counselor, I hear from kids the things they aren’t comfortable talking to parents about. There is too much out there right now that is actively trying to harm your child for them to not be able to trust you.

Roblox is a hellscape for kids. Today we pull back the curtain on the history of Roblox and its repetitive behavior of putting kids in harms way. This one is heavy, but it is needed.

This week, I talk about how kids need less screens and way more skills in this day and age. Skills that teach them so much more than just the skill itself. Skills that carry life long lessons to help propel them into the rest of their life. This is a good one you don't want to miss

Right now it is october! Bullying prevention month. This topic is a big deal to me. My experiences getting bullied in school is what drove me to be a school counselor. It’s also why I am obsessed with resiliency and helping kids be resilient. There is so much we could talk about when it comes to bullying, bullying prevention, etc. As many of you know, bullying is a big part of my story. I’ve shared my full story a few times here. But long story short, bullying and social media almost killed me. I almost ended my own life. What saved me was NOT some BS anti bullying program. What saved me was NOT some initiative punishing bullies. What saved me, was my Dad doubling down on ME and empowering ME. And that is what I want to do the podcast episode about today. The 3 things you can do TODAY to help overcome bullies in your life. Let’s dive on in

As you all know, hurricane Helene ripped through the south last week and this week. Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, Carolinas, all have felt the massive impacts. This has been the second most DEADLY hurricane in the last 50+ years, with only Hurricane Katrina being more devastating. What made this hurricane even worse, is that it ripped through many mountain communities and left them totally isolated. So we got people without food, people without resources, and people trying to reunite with loved ones who they aren’t sure if are even alive. It’s a heartbreaking and bleak situation. And to add to the pile, it’s not just in one location. It’s all over the path of the storm, especially in South Carolina, Tennessee, and Alabama. Florida got hid hard, but they’re prepared, they get hit all the time. These other places? They aren’t used to this. The destruction is spread out and the people are spread thin. Through all of this, there is some amazing silver linings that I would like to focus on today. The amazing people showing up and showing us that humans are GOOD.

As a school counselor I have too many parents who don't want to talk about mental health with their little kids because they don't want to "give them any bad ideas". When in fact, their kids are dealing with emotions and really hard feelings at a really young age. So at a really young age, we need to talk about our feelings and how we can feel, deal , and heal. In this episode, I dive into all of this, and even take you on a mindfullness guided meditation with something called mind body bridging. This episode is so good!
