On todays episode, I talk to you about how being kind takes strength. I talk about the kind of legacy we want to leave for our kids. I talk about how we can be firm, and still be kind when setting boundaries. It's short and super sweet.

As a school counselor I have too many parents who don't want to talk about mental health with their little kids because they don't want to "give them any bad ideas". When in fact, their kids are dealing with emotions and really hard feelings at a really young age. So at a really young age, we need to talk about our feelings and how we can feel, deal , and heal. In this episode, I dive into all of this, and even take you on a mindfullness guided meditation with something called mind body bridging. This episode is so good!

With it being fall, we got school sports starting up again. I did sports all through school. I did a sport every season. I did football in the fall, wrestling in the winter, and track in the spring. Sports was a big part of my life. It helped to build my resiliency. And today I want to talk about the 3 big lessons that sports taught me, and 1 thing I think we need to change.+

Today I want to talk about my year speaking full time as an entrepreneur and 3 things that I learned. As you all know, last year I left my full time job as a high school counselor to speak full time. And as you know, I decided to come back to education and be a counselor full time while still speaking on the side. If you are curious as to why I left my job and why I came back, I deep dive into all of that in my most recent episode, so go check that out. I don’t regret at all my year speaking full time, and I learned soooo many things. There are 3 big things that I want to highlight that I think will really benefit anyone who is listening.

Do you guys remember the “good ole days” when kids preferred playing outdoors? Back before the era of participation trophies, fortnite, and smartphones. It was a good time. I remember those times when I was a kid. Funny enough, I had plenty of friends who still over used their dumb phones and played way too much video games. But there were still people who valued hard work and being outside. That’s why I thought it was fitting to bring someone on the show who could relate to all of this. Everyone meet my friend Shawn Jack. Shawn is a humble man with a great legacy. As a father of 3 boys, hard work and working outside has always been an important family value. In his free time he was seen with his family farming and ranching, and leading by example. Not only has he helped his own kids, but he has influenced countless other young men in the community through a long career in service through scouting, religious callings, and his professional career in domestic child family services. A few years ago, he was able to retire from his full time job so that he could cowboy full time drifting cattle from pasture to pasture and raising a generation of wonderful Christian people who love to work hard and play harder.

We are raising an anxious generation. And we need to stomp on the brakes, rewind, and play it back. We need to let our kids be kids. Jonathan Haidt has a dope book coming out that goes into all of this. Enjoy!
