The weird thing is, people tend to hold different descriptions of you in their mind, and interesting enough, it’s never quite the same from person to person. I’ve been called all types of things across the board, both good and bad. And now that I think about it, none of them were necessarily an ‘accurate’ depiction of me. The worst of it all though, is when someone assumes things without really ‘knowing’ what’s what and/or how you operate.
Often times their depictions of you is filtered through whatever going on in their mind and spirit and whatever they deem ‘is’ (because often times they’re using you as a mirror and/or projecting (can be unconsciously) OR going based off someone else’s depiction of you). It’s best to know who and what you are in the clearest way possible because depending on others to dictate that for you would lead you down a chaotic rabbit hole. Now there is this thing where some people know things about you that you’re not quite aware of yet, BUT, by building up that self awareness and understanding/learning about yourself daily (both your positive and negative attributes and what you need to work on/currently working on about yourself) can really lower the odds of you being caught off guard (if that makes sense). It also helps to build that inner confidence.
Yes we often times need that positive feedback/encouragement/or that one good calling out that sets us straight, even in the most unexpected moments because at times it can be considered as either confirmation, a reminder, comfort, care, a push to do something, a tap on the shoulder, etc. We need reminders on what we’re capable of, but, making sure that we have those reminders within ourselves first and foremost can prevent a lot of b.s. from coming through.
