Why is giving and receiving care so complicated and messy?
In this episode of CareFull Practices, Ryder Fox explores a common tension: many people show up consistently for others but feel unseen or unsupported in return, while others feel overwhelmed by needing care and worry they are asking for too much. Why? Often, we were never taught how to engage in balanced, transparent care relationships. Instead, we've inherited beliefs that tie worth to usefulness, encourage independence over interdependence, or assume care should be automatic and unspoken. These unspoken agreements often lead to resentment, burnout, or emotional disconnection.
In this episode, we invite you to sit with what you are giving, what you expect in return, what others are actually able to offer, and what your own capacity realistically allows.
