On Episode 47 of The Terror Talks, we are bringing you our haunt review for Lake Hickory Haunts located in Hickory, North Carolina! 

On Saturday, September 18th, Lake Hickory Haunts opened their doors to their first unsuspecting victims for the 2021 Haunt Season, which would be their 10th Anniversary, and feature 12 unique haunted attractions all centered around a giant lake!!

This was our first time attending this attraction as last year we did not manage to make it out, but we were able to make it out for their final regular night of the season and it was amazing!!

Lake Hickory Haunt has ended their regular haunt season, but is open for 2 more nights in 2021 for their special Black Out Nights.

This year we have a brand new rating scale for the houses we're visiting.

All the houses that we'll be reviewing this year will be rated on the Scream Scale!

With this, we will evaluate each haunt's Sets, Costumes/Makeup/SFX, Technical Effects, Scares, Pacing, and Actors on a scale of 1-5 Screams.

The average number of screams will determine our ranking for the haunts!!

On Episode 46 of The Terror Talks, we meet our new Co-Host, Brooke and talk to her about some ghost hunting experiences she's had, and a museum with all sorts of bizarre findings. 

The Museum of the Bizarre is located in Wilmington, North Carolina. This strange and unusual museum has all sorts of interesting finds. Ranging every direction from shrunken heads to letters from serial killers, this place has got it. 

In addition to their whacky museum, they also feature a Laser Vault and a Mirror Maze. Check out this interesting location and make a day out of Wilmington, North Carolina.

You must put on special Extra Dimensional Viewing Glasses to enter the BOX, a secret facility where an experiment gone wrong has blasted bizarrely colorful mutagenic radiation over the entire complex! Your mission is to evade the weird mind melting creatures that have crawled through rips in the fabric of reality itself and make them Return To Planet X In 3D!

We have been attending Netherworld Haunted House annually for the past 8 years now, making a trip to the haunt a Halloween Tradition. 

On Saturday, September 11th, Hall of Horrors opened their doors to their first unsuspecting victims for the 2021 Haunt Season with the three new Attractions: "Dead In The Water", "Bad Blood", and "The Dollmaker"

Echoes from the golden age of riverboats float within the waterlogged woodwork of the once glorious vessel.... 

The ancient feud between Vampires and Werewolves rages within the shadows of today’s city streets....

The scary house at the end of the street sits abandoned with the passing of its owner, the dollmaker.... 

This would be our first year attending 13th Floor and boy were we glad we did!!

On Episode 44 of The Terror Talks, we are bringing you another Double Feature as we review Cedar Creek Haunted House & Hall of Horrors Haunted House for their 2021 Season!

On Friday, October 1st, Cedar Creek opened their doors to their first unsuspecting victims for the 2021 Haunt Season, which would feature a haunted trail and maze all wrapped up into one!!

This was our first time attending this attraction as last year we did not manage to make it out there. This house was sort of off the radar and not advertised as much as we believe it should have been! Luckily for us, when you arrived in Bishopville, SC, there were several signs pointing to 3 different haunted houses, “Scream Acres” and “Kreepy Hollow” on one side, and then on the other side the mysterious house “Cedar Creek Haunted House”. We were so caught off guard by this as it never appeared in any of our online searches for haunted, but we were instantly intrigued and had already had several letdowns that evening, so we figured we’d give Bishopville a chance to redeem themselves by attending.

On Friday, October 1st, Hall of Horrors opened their doors to their first unsuspecting victims for the 2021 Haunt Season with the theme “Blood Moon Rising”

Our walk-through haunted house-style attraction is recommended for ages 12 and up, but parental guidance is suggested.

All proceeds benefit local and state charities, including SC Jaycee Camp Hope, a camp experience designed for children and adults with learning disabilities and special needs. Camp Hope is located on Lake Hartwell in upstate South Carolina. Other charities that the CWC Jaycees contribute to include the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Hidden Wounds, the Wounded Warrior Project, the FealGood Foundation, SisterCare, Families Helping Families, and Harvest Hope.

This year we have a brand new rating scale for the houses we're visiting.

On Friday, September 17th, Scream Acres opened their doors to their first unsuspecting victims for the 2021 Haunt Season, which would feature 2 Attractions, a haunted house and a haunted hayride with a haunted trail portion.

Scream Acres Haunted House and Hayride, LLC has been in operation for more than thirteen years, as one of South Carolina’s top rated haunted attractions and in 2008 we were honored to be added to haunted attraction magazines top 25 must see haunts. Our main goal, is to give back to our local community as much as possible.  We strive to make our attraction as entertaining, and to keep our patrons coming back for more. Year after year we at Scream Acres try to improve our haunt, things are always changing……..have you found it yet?

On Friday, September 17th, Kreepy Hollow opened their doors to their first unsuspecting victims for the 2021 Haunt Season, which would feature 3 Attractions, a hellish bus ride, a 7000+ sq. ft. haunted house, and a 2 mile hayride through the woods.

There's a reason our bus ride is so well known! Come pick your poison with a choice of the Masters Bus ride or roll the dice with the Mystery Bus ride. Either way this will be an experience you don't want to miss! You're in for the ride of your life. Good luck, you'll need it!

The largest haunted house in South Carolina has many surprises inside. As soon as you step off the famous bus ride you'll see the towering structure you have to make it through. It's truly a one of a kind experience. You might want to turn back but it'll be too late!

You'll finish your evening with a 2 mile ride to explore 7 deadly scenes. This was our first attraction and remains one of our fan favorites. No matter what you fear you're likely to find it on our hayride. This is a hayride you don't want to miss. It may be your last!

Starting on September 10th, SeaWorld Orlando & Busch Gardens Tampa Bay began their 2021 Howl-O-Scream Season amidst rave reviews. Our Terror Talks team was privileged enough to attend both events while visiting Orlando for the week and we got to experience everything they had to offer!! 

A new terror has surfaced, and there’s nowhere to hide. Howl-O-Scream has washed ashore at SeaWorld Orlando, and this time, the fear is everywhere.

Tampa’s premier Halloween event returns earlier than ever for 28 killer nights with scare zones and haunted houses, including THREE ALL-NEW haunted house experiences.

Fear returns to its most immersive form with the return of iconic horror-filled haunted houses to terrify guests at Busch Gardens Howl-O-Scream, Tampa Bay’s BIGGEST haunt event. Park guests will find nowhere to hide as zombies, deranged clowns, werewolves and new surprises stalk their prey throughout eight scare zones, and unpredictable roaming hordes lurk in the darkness. Beyond the haunts, killer entertainment can be found on stage with “Fiends!” returning to the Festival Field and last year’s best-kept-secret “The Rolling Bones” performing electrifying rock covers at Dragon Fire Grill.

On Episode 40 of The Terror Talks, we are discussing the newest installment in the Halloween Franchise, "Halloween Kills"

In September of 2018, Miramax and Blumhouse Productions premiered the newest installment of the world-renowned "Halloween" franchise, created by John Carpenter and Debra Hill. The film, to nobody's surprise, would be a COMPLETE SUCESS, grossing $255.6 at the box office. Because of this success, Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions remained true to his word of "we will do a sequel if the movie performs".  By October 2018 after the film's opening weekend, it was confirmed that a sequel was in the works with Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, and Andi Matichak reprising their roles. 

This new film would also allow for the return of Nick Castle and James Jude Courtney as The Shape/Michael Myers, Will Patton as Deputy Hawkins, and Omar Dorsey as Sheriff Barker. 

The film would also play host to some new talent with Anthony Michael Hall as Tommy Doyle, one of the survivors of the 1978 Halloween, Kyle Richards as Lindsay Wallace, another survivor of the 1978 Halloween, Nancy Stephens as Marion Chambers, the nurse who was attacked by Michael in 1978, and Charles Cyphers as Leigh Brackett, the sheriff from Halloween 1978 who lost his daughter Annie and played alongside Dr. Loomis, played by Donald Pleasance, for most of Halloween 1978. 

The film would pick up right where the 2018 film left off with the Strode family escaping Michael Myers, but learning that he is still alive and hunting down the residents of Haddonfield. Now with the help of survivors of the original 1978 attacks and the townspeople, they fight to kill Michael Myers once and for all stating that "Evil Dies Tonight!" 

Halloween Kills premiered at the 78th Venice International Film Festival on September 8, 2021. The film was originally set to be theatrically released on October 16, 2020 but in July 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was delayed to October 15, 2021. On September 9, 2021, it was announced that in addition to being released in theaters the film would also be streamed on paid tiers of Peacock for 60 days.

A sequel entitled "Halloween Ends" is already in pre-production and planned to release on October 14th, 2022, and will take place at least 4 years later in the year 2022 and will address the Covid-19 Pandemic. Director, David Gordon Green, describes the film as a "coming of age story" and "a more intimate movie" where "some of the characters.... have processed the insanity of the circus of the massacre of 2018. And not only that, but they've also processed the world as it's spun so wildly in the last four years."

On Friday, September 24th, Dark Castle opened their doors to their first unsuspecting victims for the 2021 Haunt Season, which would feature their 3 Signature Attractions, “Dungeon of Darkness”, their indoor attraction, “Zombie Zone”, their zombie shooting experience, and finally “Dark Knight’s Terror Trail”, their outdoor haunted trail.

Dark Castle’s Philosophy: We at Dark Castle strive to scare, but we know that not everyone scares the same, so we will amaze, stupify, frighten, startle, disgust and possibly offend, but we will ALWAYS entertain!

This was our second year visiting this interesting attraction. We were intrigued by our experience last year and knew that we must return for a follow-up this year because there’s just something about this place that is different and yet still fun.

On Friday, September 24th, Nightmare’s Gate Haunted House opened their doors to their first unsuspecting victims for the 2021 Haunt Season with their two Haunted Attractions: “Haunted Hospital” & “Terror Falls”

This was our first year getting to attend the haunt and we only found out about it from ANOTHER Haunted House, “Containment”. We had finished our run of “Containment” and the workers there told me to come check this one out before they closed for the night. I left “Containment” at 11:30pm, and made it to “Nightmare’s Gate” at 11:40pm. I was able to purchase my tickets and attend both attractions in perfect timing!!

So what did this popup house for us do? Did we get what thought we would out of it? Was it worth the hassle to fly over to this house from a totally different one? Would the recommendation pay off? Time to find out as we break down…
