  • Episode 162 - I'm Thinking of Ending Things, The Meetings of Anna, Eureka
On the one hundred and sixty-second episode of THE THIRD ACT PODCAST the crew is filtering out the fool's gold.
For our new release review we talk about a heady thriller from Charlie Kaufman, I'M THINKING OF ENDING THINGS. We pair that with another film exploring identity and loneliness, THE MEETINGS OF ANNA. Finally, for our Auteurography series on Nicolas Roeg we talk about the sprawling soap opera-esque, EUREKA. We also discuss being drinks, manic intellectual dream girls, and meat cleavers.

  • Bill and Ted's Excellent Bonus Episode - Bill and Ted Face the Music
On a most nostalgic bonus episode of THE THIRD ACT PODCAST the crew is jamming through time with theremins and bagpipes.
We share our thoughts on recent rewatches of Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure and Bogus Journey before digging into the most recent entry that dropped on VOD. We discuss everything that works and doesn't work in the good natured, messy sequel. We also discuss paradoxes, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, and raising your arms in the air while talking.

  • Episode 157 - Never Rarely Sometimes Always / 4 Months, 3 Weeks, and 2 Days / Walkabout
On the one hundred and fifty-seventh episode of THE THIRD ACT PODCAST the crew is bopping along.
We discuss a pair of films about reproductive rights starting with the new release, NEVER RARELY SOMETIMES ALWAYS. We pair that with a similar story set in 1980s Romania, 4 MONTHS, 3 WEEKS, AND 2 DAYS. Finally, we continue our Auteurography series on Nicolas Roeg and discuss a difficult journey in the Australian outback in WALKABOUT. We also discuss exotic animals, body horror, and the Skype vs. Zoom debate.

  • Episode 156 - A Hidden Life, The Third Man, Performance
On the one hundred and fifty-sixth episode of THE THIRD ACT PODCAST the crew knows this could've been 15 minutes shorter.
While still locked indoors we review Terrence Malick's latest film, A HIDDEN LIFE. We pair that with a classic Orson Welles film noir, THE THIRD MAN. Finally, we kick off a new Auteurography series on Nicolas Roeg and discuss his debut, a Mick Jagger movie well ahead of its time, PERFORMANCE. We also discuss rising tensions, Hacksaw Ridge, and Zoom meetings.

  • Episode 100
    It's our hundredth episode!
We are finally ready to reveal our highly anticipated(?) Episode 100. We celebrate our centennial with little reverence. Segments include- a jumbo-sized return of Shitty Trailers of the Week, discussion of each of our 100th favorite films, and we make a list called The Third Act Top 100. This is more nostalgia than film criticism, but if you have been pining for Baja Blast, Dan the Intern, and Rip Torn references then this is the episode for you.
Thanks to everyone who has bothered to listen to us over the last 4+ years even though Armando still hasn't seen The Fountain.

  • Casey Affleck Bonus Episode (the happy birthday episode)
On this very special episode of THE THIRD ACT PODCAST we talk exclusively about the films of CASEY AFFLECK and the man himself. If this sounds strange then this is probably not an episode for you because really this episode is a birthday present for Christian's wife, Katie.

  • Bonus Episode- The Garage is Closed
On a bittersweet bonus episode of THE THIRD ACT PODCAST, Christian, Jericho, and Armando say farewell to the garage with one last desperate attempt at relevancy. Secrets are shared. Tears are shed. The audio recording quality is endearingly crappy. A list of favorite "garage scenes in films" are compiled. In keeping with the theme of finality, each member discusses a celebrated filmmaker's last cinematic effort. It's a real smorgasbord of conflicting emotions; culminating in a bonafide rabble-rousing finale that's sure to bring down the house (or, err, in this case, the garage). Questions remain. Will the crew soldier on into uncharted podcasting territory, or is this the end of an era? Only one thing is certain; the garage accepts, the garage cleanses, and the garage forgives.
