In Luke 2, there is an announcement from Heaven declaring "PEACE ON EARTH" but what does peace on earth look life today if there is so much division and hatred in the world? Listen to this week's episode of The Third Option where Rick and Judi discuss the heart of God and what it looks like to be at peace with God in the midst of difficult circumstances.
“Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.” -Luke 2:14
Why is there often such resistance to receive? Why is it difficult? As we enter into the Christmas season, it is the perfect time to learn how to receive from others, but ultimately from our Heavenly Father. God gives and gives, patiently waiting for us to see His heart and receive all of the good things He has prepared for us. There is such beauty and importance in doing this. Today, recognize the heart of The Father and be a good receiver!
Rick shares his story of growing up feeling unworthy of love, how he turned from a self-destructive lifestyle of drugs and alcohol to a relationship with a loving Father. He explains how that initial love and acceptance began to morph into a more legalistic view of God and how that wore him out. As he laid on the floor, giving up, he experienced the beginning of a trajectory change in his life that reunited him with his first love.
Judi shares her story of how she experienced the love and grace of God during a very deep depression. She shares how God sat with her during this difficult time. Finally willing to stop working to earn God's approval and favor, she was in a position to begin receiving from God. It's a beautiful story of how God's love became personal to her and not only provided healing for her heart, but also answered a long-awaited prayer above and beyond her wildest imagination.
A heart that is full sees the good. Thankfulness is the highest expression of faith, because it believes it has received. Natural man tends to focus on what's negative, but a thankful heart transforms the natural to the spiritual, and reminds a person of the true, bigger perspective of all that is good, especially God. True riches are spiritual because they don't run out or get diminished or old. They flow from an inner fountain of Life and make us givers of true riches to those around us.
The parable of the Lost Sheep exemplifies the heart of God to reach out to "the one", the one no one else cares about, the one who is outside the fold, the one who is the outcast. Rick and Judi look at several examples of Jesus doing exactly that and how we today have the honor of reaching out the one in our life sphere.
Rick and Judi discuss the difference between righteous judgment and unrighteous judgment. We hope this episode gives clarity on how our good God operates and loves His children. As you listen, allow God to transform your thinking and encourage your heart!
