The Thread Safe Podcast

I am bringing a new costume to Dragon Con this year that I’ve never worn there before, but not a handmade one this time. This episode is about how and why I originally put that costume together, and how I hope to improve it. Sometimes, it’s good to be bad. 😉 Show Notes: Photo by […]

I participated in the Ralston 4th of July parade for my fourth year in a row. This is my event report for this year. Show Notes: Photo by Mick H. (a member of the costuming group discussed in this episode), reposted with the photographer’s permission. (That’s me in the white Jedi outfit, behind and to […]

I did a bunch of shopping today, both online and in stores. In this episode, I share my successes, failures, and what I’m up to tonight. Show Notes: Here’s a link to my previous “Accessory Shopping” episode from 2016. The theme song for Thread Snippings and The Thread Safe Podcast is “Puzzle Pieces,” by Lee Rosevere, […]

Today’s episode is named after an old-fashioned saying because it demonstrates why that saying exists. In this episode, I talk about my creative use of an abandoned ‘alpha version’ of one of my existing costume pieces to fill a previously-unforeseen need. Show Notes: This blog post is backdated to the approximate date and time I […]

In this episode, I share my costuming to-do list for this month. Show Notes: Here are links to the two previous episodes I mentioned in this episode: Thread Snippings 017: Amy’s To-Do List Thread Snippings 008: New Boot Smell The theme song for Thread Snippings and The Thread Safe Podcast is “Puzzle Pieces,” by Lee Rosevere, […]

This episode was recorded live at my Toastmasters club meeting earlier today. Nobody else had volunteered to speak at today’s meeting, and I had just finished my new anime costume, so I decided to kill two birds with one stone and record this. Once again, this is being uploaded completely unedited.

The bulk of my cosplay accessories are on their way to Atlanta, thanks to a very kind friend of mine! I talk about that and the progress I’ve made today. I also think out loud about what to wear to which Dragon Con events.

This year, I decided I needed to step up my ‘traveling with costumes’ game in addition to my cosplay game. This afternoon, I bought a pair of garment bags which I will try out, compare, and contrast while traveling to Dragon Con.

The good news today is that, thanks to the generosity of a friend, I get to take ALL the long dresses (and my Jedi cloak, of course) to this year’s Dragon Con! I talk briefly about which costumes I’ll be bringing, and how excited I am about Dragon Con.

At the end of a quiet day, I talk about the costume progress I made today and reply to one of my fellow DDoP podcasters’ shows. Once again, no in-depth editing or music because it’s a work night and I need to get to bed.
