The Threadwork Collective: On Air episodes

  • America 250 Book Club, Ep. 2: Taking the Constitution Off Its Pedestal

    Show Description

The Constitution is treated like a sacred text. People cite it to justify laws, elections, and who belongs. In this second episode of the America 250 Book Club, host Lianna Manibog and co-host Saetha Evans take it off its pedestal and ask the questions we were never taught to ask: Who wrote it? Who was it written for? And who was left out? Culture change comes before systems change. This is part of that work.

    In This Episode

    • Taking the Constitution off its pedestal by asking who wrote it, who it served, and who was left out
    • What the framers borrowed from the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, and what they chose to erase
    • Lianna's childhood memory of claiming her Nahua ancestry, and what it reveals about cultural erasure
    • Somatics and the body's response to this history, drawing on Resmaa Menakem's My Grandmother's Hands
    • Shame as a messenger, and accountability as restoring community rather than punishing
    • Why this movement is about liberation, not rights someone else can grant or take away

Featured Reading: An Indigenous Peoples' History of the United States by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz and My Grandmother's Hands by Resmaa Menakem.

This series continues the conversation from our partnership with Lara Jones and RadioACTive on KRCL, Thursdays 6 to 7 PM Mountain.

  • Understanding Rhetoric: Power of Persuasion in Society with Dr. Estee Crenshaw

Unlock the secret to powerful communication that shapes societies, influences minds, and drives action. In this eye-opening episode, Dr. Estee Crenshaw reveals how rhetoric isn't just fancy talk, it's the backbone of democracy, persuasion, and societal change. Whether you're a student, a leader, or just someone curious about how words move the world, this episode shows you how mastering rhetoric can empower you to understand, influence, and navigate our complex social landscape.

Dr. Crenshaw takes us on a journey from ancient Athens to today's social media battleground, illustrating how rhetoric has evolved and why it's more vital than ever. You’ll discover how emotional appeals often steer our decisions more than logic, how credibility is built (and broken), and why effective listening and dialogue are your best tools in a polarized world. Dr. Crenshaw shares practical insights on how to spot fallacies, protect yourself from misinformation, including AI-generated falsehoods, and foster a shared understanding across diverse perspectives.

In a time where words are weaponized and trust is scarce, understanding rhetoric is no longer optional, it's essential. This episode is perfect for anyone who wants to think critically about influence, become a more effective communicator, or simply start having better conversations. Step into the art of persuasion and transform how you see the world and your place in it.
