Trey & Harley are amazing!
Absolutely loved this book! Definitely not what you would expect! Amazing story and lots of twists and turns!
Interesting plot...melodramatic characters
I thought that the plot of this book was unique (at least relatively) which was the reason that I continued listening until the end, There were definitely some nice twists and turns which kept me interested at times. That being said the characters and writing style were WAY too melodramatic for me and I never really picked up on the chemistry between the two main characters. I won't be reading or listening to the sequel, but I also liked it enough that I won't return it. I did enjoy the narration, though. I thought that Erin did a nice job of giving each character his/her own voice. Listeners who enjoy lengthy passages describing exaggerated feelings and LOTS of angst might enjoy this but it just wasn't for me.
Different kind of character background
When I first started listening to this book, I was puzzled by Harley's addiction. There are all kinds of addictions, I guess there is a sex and love one too. Very interesting. The relationship between Trey and Harley is interesting as well. I enjoyed the story that Lauren Blakely tells and the way Erin Mallon tells it. At first it seemed silly, but when you look at their ages and their backgrounds, I guess it certainly is possible for such addictions. Love Lauren Blakely's story telling.
A RAW & RIVETING JOURNEY OF ADDICTION & LOVE
I love all of Lauren Blakey's books but she really outdid herself with this Duet which tells the story of two damaged young adults who battle against their sex addiction, their disfunctional families, their haunting tragic memories, the temptations of a likeable pimp, secrets, blackmail and loss. But, as Trey and Harley's relationship goes from a close solid friendship to soul mates, the one thing that becomes clearer and clearer is the deep undying love they have for each other..
