The Thriving Therapists episodes

  • Expectations on emerging therapists

Hello and welcome back thriving gang!

We hope you’re enjoying the episodes so far !

This episode we chat through the huge and often unrealistic expectations put on early career therapists by tertiary institutions, employers and clients.

    We chat about:

    •  The student to expert slingshot effect
    •  Does tertiary education set us up for failure? (i.e. limited placements and then expectation to be expert)
    •  expectations from employers
    •  Expectations from clients both perceived and real
    • Our own experiences of this

We can’t wait for you guys to listen to this episode, it’s really going to unpack and explore the often invisible pressures we feel.

If you loved this ep and have been loving the pod we would so appreciate a rating, review or share with a therapist friend to help  support the show and get in more ears for those who need it!

    Kat + Aimee

  • Why are therapists more likely to experience Imposter Syndrome?

    Hello hello!

    Welcome back to episode two.

We hope you enjoyed our first episode, but we wanted to delve deeper into imposterism as a therapist and why (oh why) therapists are more likely to feel like an imposter

    We also chat about:

    - fear around speaking up (workplace, supervisors, colleagues)

    - our experiences of IS

    - IS and how it shows up clinically and personally

    - the short term and long-term impacts of IS

We hope you enjoy and get something out of this ep!

  • Our story of Imposter Syndrome

Hi our Thriving Therapist gang! 👋🏻

A huuuge welcome to our first ever episode.

We had so much fun recording this ep, it was quite a vulnerable one but a powerful one that we hope you can relate to. Part of why we created this podcast was to unpack the very real but often taboo experiences of being a therapist in today’s modern world - one of those being imposter syndrome.

In this episode we chat through
    - why we created the Thriving Therapist Pod
    - our story and experiences of imposterism
    - expectations vs. reality of becoming a therapist

We hope you love this episode!
