We're also joined by radio host & NY Times bestselling author Eric Metaxas to discuss his new book Fish Out of Water.  Metaxas, whose works include Martin Luther, If You Can Keep It, Bonhoeffer, Miracles, Seven Women, Seven Men, and Amazing Grace, gives glimpses into his "crazy smorgasboard life" and has fun explaining why he executes the type of radio show he does. Greg Laurie from "A New Beginning" (heard weekdays at 10am & 7pm on WFIL) calls in to discuss his brand new book, Billy Graham: The Man I Knew (Salem's Book of the Month for May). Laurie, who lived in Summit, NJ for a number of years as a youth, talks about what inspired him to write the book, his hopes for those who read it, and some neat tidbits as well.

Laurie, longtime Senior Pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, CA (and other locations), who himself has spoken to millions at Harvest Crusades (including in Philadelphia), also shares a personal example of a humorous and powerful interaction (one of many in the book) revealing the "everydayness" of Graham. 

Laurie also discusses two other similar books he wrote in recent years--Steve McQueen: The Salvation of an American Icon and Johnny Cash: The Redemption of an American Icon--including an inspirational story of McQueen's conversion to Christianity towards the end of his life with the help of Pastor Graham.

The one and only Phil Keaggy, guitar virtuoso and vocalist, joins the program today!

Keaggy, known also for work done with his band Glass Harp, has released over 60 albums such as his first solo project "What A Day," plus "Love Broke Through," "Wind & The Wheat," "Master & The Musician," "Crimson & Blue," and "Lights of Madrid." He takes time to paint a picture of what it was like growing up as one of 10 children in a musical home & gives insight into some of his favorite songs & albums growing up. Actor Larry Saperstein, known as "Big Red" in "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series" joins the show to talk about the new season (#2). Saperstein also talks about acting, tap dancing, and the role his parents played in his development. Tim also plays back a conversation he had with Joey Fatone of NSYNC on Monday while Tim was in Chattanooga for a family wedding. Fatone, who was in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" and served as announcer on Family Feud (2010-2015), is host of GSN's "Common Knowledge" which is now in its fourth season.

Masterpiece Cake Shop owner Jack Phillips joins the show today from Colorado to discuss his new book The Cost of My Faith: How a Decision In My Cake Shop Took Me to The Supreme Court. After 9 years of legal battles, Jack is finally sharing the whole story, including the day of that decision--July 19, 2012, when two men walked into Phillips' shop in requesting a custom, hand-painted wedding cake. Jack’s world was turned upside down and he was forced to pick between two impossible choices: Express a message that deeply conflicts with biblical values or allow his livelihood--and even personal safety--to be put at risk.

Phillips unpacks not only the storyline regarding his cake shop but also shares his testimony and how his faith permeates his day-to-day life, both in business and in personal relationships. Phillips' prologue in The Cost of My Faith reads, "I'm hoping this book may help you as you come to terms with some of the most far-reaching decisions of your own life--and as you try to prepare for what may turn out to be even more important choices still to come." He adds, "The main reason I've written this book: to share some of what God has done in my life, so that you may trust Him for what He wants to do in yours." Jonathan Scruggs, a lawyer with Alliance Defending Freedom (adflegal.org) also chimes in during our conversation among other things to help explain some of the legal aspects of the story.

Once a month, the ladies and gentlemen in the WFIL audience square off in "Trivia Thursday" in a battle of wits, guts, and minimal glory as each side attempts to answer various & sundry questions posed on the show. The ladies raced out to a 3-0 lead thanks to Edith in Delco, and after Karen in Phoenixville called in from her local WaWa and fumbled the proverbial ball, Donna in Pottstown checked in and notched 3 more points to put the ladies up 6-0. You'll notice no men called initially, which makes it hard to win. As the "Great One"--Wayne Gretzky, the all-time leading scoring in NHL history (by far)--once said, "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take." 

Regardless, this piece of sage advice did not seem to prompt the guys to call--at least not right away. Thanks to Gail (Philadelphia), Steve (from somewhere), Claire ("from NJ"), Ed (Chester County), Patricia (Woodbury, NJ), Bob ("in PA"), Dwayne (Honeybrook) and Phil (Kensington) who all participated. By the end of the show...well, you'll have to listen to see how it unfolded. Or you can cheat by skipping to the end to get the final score--but I'm sure you wouldn't do such a thing, right? (RIGHT? :))

Michael Woolworth with Bible League International spends a second day with us as "Open The Floodgates: Bibles For Africa" continues. WFIL & Bible League are working together this month to provide 2200 new believers in Africa with their very first Bible. These believers are located in 12 different countries and will receive the Word of God in their very own language. What a tremendous blessing to be part of this opportunity!
