Robert Lewis & Tom Carter with Cross International spend the hour in-studio today. Cross International is based in Pompano Beach, Florida and works in many third-world countries, coming alongside established ministries to support them in their work. The focus of our time today is a partnership with Divine Shelter Christian School in Haiti, where the average household income is $2 per day and many families cannot afford food much less education. For a one-time gift of $88, a child can have a full scholarship to DSCS, including a uniform, shoes, school supplies, and of course the education itself—and not just any education, but a Christian education, where the child reads the Bible, memorizes Scripture, and learns about the Lord. For an additional one-time gift of $22, the child will receive a hot meal each day. All told, a $110 one-time gift will provide both the Christian education and food for a child for a whole year. A number of very powerful stories are shared, including two children (ages 9 and 11) who, despite being terminally ill, insisted their Christmas money be used instead for helping two children in Haiti receive education and food with DSCS. Steve Arterburn, host of the Christian counseling show “New Life Live!” joins the program today. Also to be noted, Governor Wolf’s instruction for the updated machines is true for all 67 counties in Pennsylvania, so while today’s conversation’s focus was primarily on Philadelphia, voters should be aware similar changes (albeit possibly with a different type of machine) will be rolling out by the end of 2019.

February is National Heart Awareness Month, and as such, the show welcomes Jim Spaulding from Cardiac Care & Safety, Inc in to share helpful information on CPR, AED's(Automated External Defibrillators), and much more. Jim relays a number of very helpful and powerful situational stories that paint a picture of how each listener can be ready and in position to step up if needed.

Local resident Steve O'Bott from Montgomery County, PA calls in as well to share his story involving a heart attack while playing basketball (at 48 years old) and how a combination of the facility having an AED on site (with freshly-changed batteries) and fellow players who had been trained how to use an AED helped save his life.
