    In today's Quick Hit, Ryan Buhr and I discuss the pros and cons of using templated website design sites like Wix and Square Space.  Sure, the costs associated with these curated sites are much lower than a custom site build, but you quickly run afoul on some of these sites when you need specific tooling and customization for your unique brand or business.

    That and the fact that any of these companies can change / fold and you're left with none of your code, and that can be EXTREMELY disruptive.

    According to Ryan, humans are notoriously lazy about inline code comments and documentation when building custom software.  In the age of AI and LLMs like Claude Code that help programmers and their workflows, some of this laziness has, initially, flowed over to that generative code. 

    More often now, though, the newest models are including more narrative and documentation.  Ryan and I discuss how modern programmers integrate these generative features into their projects, and what it means for the future of code base and usage of these tools.

    ...of me whining and complaining about not being as productive as last year.  :)

    But seriously, I've reconciled why I've had a relatively light, unproductive year with music in 2026 and it has a lot to do with my administrative and movie pivots.  I get into the meat and potatoes (with an e?) of it all in this week's update.  Some stuff you probably know from other episodes, some stuff I haven't disclosed - even some surprises! (can you say the first win for Enter the Television!?)
