In fact, he wants his running backs to "run angry", to make some big plays that they couldn't seem to make against outmatched Kent State last week, despite the 59-3 OSU win. Tim and 'Double D' Dillon Davis talk about that and more as they cinch up for what promises to be an interesting couple of months of Big Ten play for the No. 7 Buckeyes.

  2. Number 2: Here Comes the Big Ten for the Buckeyes ... Ready or Not | The Tim May Show

    Ohio State knows it's a pretty darn good football team when it can beat any opponent 59-3 (this time it was 52- point underdog Kent State), and there are still some question marks, as Matt Wilhelm and Dillon Davis discuss with Tim, headed toward the Big Ten opener with Illinois. On the other hand, QB Julian Sayin again had a couple of puzzling moments, especially for a second-year starter. There were several injuries, including to DT James Smith, safety Jaylen McClain and freshman RB Legend Bey, the most serious to Smith (right arm or wrist). And the offensive line and running game didn't pop perhaps as well as expected in the physical mismatch. Still, third-year Jeremiah Smith did set the Ohio State record for career receiving yards, and in just his 33rd game, a lot of youngsters played, including massive freshman DT Jamir Perez, who returned a fumble for a TD, much to the delight of teammates. Release the Kracken!

  3. Number 3: The Buckeyes Are Ready To Bounce Back, But Second Guessers Are Stuck On The Longhorns Loss

    Now, No.6 Ohio State will step back into the ring on Saturday, a week after blowing that 20 point lead a week earlier in the loss at now-No. 1 Texas. Safety Earl Little Jr. says the Buckeyes are eager to reassert themselves, which oddsmakers believe won't be a problem against prohibitive underdog Kent State in Ohio Stadium. But that doesn't keep observers such as Bill Raninowitz, author of Buckeye Brotherhood about the 2024 national championship team, and Tim May Show late-week regular Jeff Snook from looking back with a critical on what could have, perhaps even should have, gone better at Texas. "We'll win the game or know the reason why," is the way one of the school songs goes.

    You fancy yourself the best team in the country, you amass a 23-3 lead through three quarters over the No. 4 team in the land at its place. You're supposed to win big, but at least win. Ohio State suffered a colossal collapse at Texas, a game it could have run away with at the most, and should have won at the least. But in the fourth quarter the Buckeyes' defense couldn't get off the field as Arch Manning kept making clutch plays, and conversely QB Julian Sayin and company couldn't make just the one play that could have saved the day. Matt Wilhelm and Dillon Davis take turns joining Tim to talk about what happened and what now for the Buckeyes.
