It has been one of the most meaningful projects of my life, this rich God honoring podcast.

The Timeless Gospel began on almost 2 years ago, and has put out into the world 92 episodes.  Its broadcasts have made it possible for the Word of God to reach the lost and the saved, those who call themselves children of God, and those, we hope, will call themselves children of God in the future.

Joy and I want to thank some people for supporting this wonderful podcast, and I say wonderful not because Joy or I are wonderful, but because God’s grace is wonderful, and any time it’s proclaimed, we are full of wonder and awe.

First, we would like to thank dear Aunt Shirley, because without her the Romans tapes would not exist.

We would also like to thank her for sharing her story of God’s grace on the podcast, which we know was not easy to do.

We want to thank Dave for his 100% support of the idea of a podcast, and for giving me a glimpse of how clear and crisp Larry could sound through the magic of voice isolation software.

We want to thank our guest, every single one, for trusting us to handle their stories with care.  We also want to thank those guests who aren’t in the public eye, for believing us when we told them that their Christianity, and their relationship with either Larry or the saints at New Covenant Bible church was worth sharing on the podcast.

We want to thank Mandolin.  Mandolin did not hesitate when I asked her if she would be willing to play for the podcast and her music is the lovely lovely finishing touch to the sweet words of grace that permeates each episode.

I want to thank you Joy, for saying yes when I asked you to be my co-host.  I can’t think of a better person to share this great privilege with.  It’s hard to put into words what you bring to this project.  Just a few come to mind though- Dedication, studiousness, warmth, and joy.

We thank Larry and Linda, together the epitome of those who have been transferred into the Kingdom of God’s dear Son, for raising us in the Faith, for being brave enough to proclaim the Gospel, and for displaying the picture of Christ and His Bride in their marriage.

In this episode, hosts Faithann and Joy continue our six-part series on Biblical Submission in a Christian Marriage. We’ve been encouraged by the feedback from so many of you who have been following along, and we’re thankful for the opportunity to go deeper together.

Before diving into today’s conversation, we pause to extend our deepest sympathies and prayers to the family of Charlie Kirk, a Christian father and cultural influencer whose life was tragically cut short. We mourn with his loved ones and pray for God’s comfort to surround them.

In this part of the series, Faithann leads the discussion and unpacks three themes that highlight how biblical submission is not about rigid rule-keeping, but about cultivating a Spirit-filled, Christ-centered marriage:

A Little Something – How friendship between husband and wife reflects the exclusive intimacy Christ has with His bride. From inside jokes to quiet moments together, small daily habits strengthen the bond of friendship in marriage.

The Size of Things – Why wives don’t need to overstep as their husband’s PR arm or emotional spokesperson, and how learning to let go of small preferences can protect unity and respect. We talk candidly about eye-rolling, micromanaging, and trusting God with the balance of headship and support.

Grape Juice – A simple analogy with profound truth: our words should be concentrated, sweet, and reverent, not watered down by constant criticism or nagging. Just as grape juice should remind you of grapes, our words should reflect the grace of Christ in our marriages.

Throughout this conversation, we circle back to the truth that friendship is not optional in Christian marriage. Roles matter, but without friendship, something vital is missing.

Together, Joy and Faithann walk through Scripture, personal reflections, and real-life examples to uncover what submission truly means in God’s design.
